Let's start by disarming the bodyguards of this Lehman Brothers vulture capitalist.

The no-fly list is stricter than the terror watch list.

Really goes to show you that any idiot can win a governor's race. This guy may be one of the worst politicians I've ever seen.

Lief is no better than Romney when it comes to sticking to your positions. Enthusiastically supported Obama in '12 (who is pro-gun control), now believes we should let TERRORISTS buy guns.

I'm not making any commentary on what we should or should not do wrt to this issue. This sub-forum is about the 2016 election, not for debating policy (you can check my posts in the, I believe, U.S. General Discussion forum where I made a post espousing my views on this issue). I'm just pointing out that Kasich is a hilariously incompetent politician.

When you're running in the Republican presidential primary at this moment in history and your aim is to eventually win it, yes, yes it is incompetency. Stunning incompetency.

Kasich is John Huntsman II. Pretty conservative, but out of touch with what the Republican electorate wants.

Out of touch, and damn right arrogant that he thinks he can be running on a general election platform in the primaries. He thought he'd be able to win by being everything Republicans are not. I look forward to his political career ending when he comes in 6th place in New Hampshire.

Kasich will probably get a cabinet position. Or he could always run for Senate in 2018, provided his popularity in Ohio doesn't tank.

I suppose it's oddly fitting for Kasich to kamikaze his campaign on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbour.

Kamikasich might not be a bad nickname for him actually.

I remember in 2004 when the democrats gleefully repeated stories of random nobodies finding out, to their shock, that they were on the no-fly list.  It was supposed to be a mockery of the sorts of policies that Bush was pursuing to combat terrorism.
12 years on and now the democrats love the no-fly list.  Why?  Because their president is in charge of fighting terrorism now.

No because its common sense to not give guns to known terrorists.

Of course it is.  But that's not what we're talking about here because people on the No-Fly list aren't known terrorists.

For the record, I actually think we should do what Obama and Kasich are suggesting.  The no-fly list is imperfect, but it's better than nothing, and if you're going to kick these people off of flights you really should go all in and bar them from purchasing weapons as well.  There have been a lot of issues with false positives (the wikipedia article on this is a mile long) but the consequences of a false positive are that you have to wait a week to purchase your gun as you identify yourself to your local chapter of the ATF (presumably), while the consequences of a true positive are that we catch a terror suspect trying to purchase weapons, much more incriminating than trying to board a flight and possibly a just cause for a search warrant.

Just wanted to point out the hypocrisy.  But the fact that people are hypocrites doesn't automatically mean that their policies are wrong, in spite of Jon Stewart's 15-year-long effort to convince us as much; in this case the democrats are right.

If thats the case then why arent they locked away in gitmo or kicked out of the country?

They want to use the "no fly list" as a covert way of placing americans on a no guns list.

Ha, and why would Trump reward Kasich's insolence with a promotion! Utter silliness.

Kasich is the least crazy and most competent of the Republican candidates for President. That alas dooms him to defeat in the primaries.

He's not going to win another election anywhere without TRUMPS endorsement. No Senate candidates will, for that matter
