@cspan: White House @PressSec Josh Earnest: "What #DonaldTrump said yesterday disqualifies him from serving as President." https://twitter.com/cspan/status/674294346204622848

Any idea if this is actually true?

Not literally, if that's what you're asking.
Okay - just checking. He mentions (video in link) that POTUS makes an oath to defend the constitution. I didn't know if there was anything constitutional that would prevent him from serving as President.

Obama would have been impeached twenty times over if this were true.

Jokes aside, a grossly un-American proposal that completely undermines the noble history of this country's entire reason for formation (talking about the original Europeans who fled here, not 1776).  If you want stricter immigration and tougher screening, fine; that's an opinion to have.  However, calling for an entire religious faith to be banned from this country is sickening.

When we give into our fears of a Trump presidency, we betray our most deeply held values. We won't give into Trumpophobia. If we don't vote for Trump, he wins. We must invite Trump into the WH.

His comments play right into the hands of ISIS and other radicals and increases the likely hood of another attack so it can only help him in the primary.

Oh Ok ..... let's let "Trump win" (in his demented mind) and NOT vote for Trump.

Nice edit, I guess I'm no longer a joke?

And okay, I really don't care about your assessment of American history.  Agree to disagree.  Clearly cheering on someone who is trolling the Republican Party is more important than calling said troll out when he clearly departs from your views, but this country was founded by the grandchildren of people who escaped religious persecution; it certainly goes against the spirit on which this country was founded, and it doesn't matter if you think that sounds corny.

Also, am I misremembering, or did Trump allow a brutal Muslim dictator who was personally involved in multiple terrorist plots to pitch a tent in his back yard in 2009?

I am not sure he is a racist - it is, probably, far too cynical even for that. But he is, unquestionably, a fascist demagogue.

Alternatively, you could say ISIS's actions are playing right into the hands of Trump!

Well, for many practical purposes they are, really, part of the sam team.

I totally forgot about that! I seem to recall that Trump backed down after universal backlash and condemnation.

Saying that all Muslims are terrorists is like saying all Christians are Westboro Baptists.

I'm still unsure if Trump will end up electorally like Frank Stronach (gaining ground in the polls rapidely, then making stupid comments about re-introducing the death penalty and doing worse than polls predicted on election day, but still managing a good result, then collapsing after the election because no substance) or HC Strache (continuously polling high, no matter what he/party says and also getting strong election results) ...

Now that the Obama admin. has come out to attack Trump we can all agree that this might have been his best trolling yet. I mean is there anything better as a GOP primary candidate than to get the Obama camp to jump into your campaign essentially on the side of your opponents?

Yes. The President is literally defending the Constitution of the United States of America by defending the human rights enshrined within, the human rights which keep America from becoming a fascist tyranny.  He is also defending a shrewd military policy of ensuring that refugees from Syria can end up in America, where they will less likely be radicalized than if they are stuck in Syria and must choose between the Ba'athist terror and the terror if the Infernal State.

One can disparage the President all that one wants, but don't challenge the Constitution except to amend it in the difficult manner prescribed therein.

No contradiction here. He said in October that the world would be a better place if Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddaffi were still in power:

Two local SurveyUSA polls show that Republicans support Trump's call for a ban on Muslim immigration by a wide margin:

Sam Diego, CA
Overall: 52/48

Republicans: 71/29
Independents: 47/53
Democrats: 37/63

Conservatives: 79/21
Moderates: 39/61
Liberals: 37/63

Fresno, CA
Overall: 59/41

Republicans: 69/31
Independents: 57/43
Democrats: 48/51

Conservatives: 84/16
Moderates: 56/43
Liberals: 42/58

This is why these comments won't hurt Trump in the least in the primary.

Whoa.  The San Diego part has me wondering if this might actually play in the general.  San Diego County went for Obama both times at roughly D+1 and is the size of a small state.  It also has a very substantial Hispanic and Asian population.  So I'd have to imagine even larger majorities are in favor of this in Midwestern states that went narrowly for Obama.  Getting scary out there!

From the poll, with the caveat about SUSA crosstabs, it appears Asians are probably much more supportive of Trump's statements than other minorities.

Whites: 54/46
Blacks: 45/55
Hispanics: 43/57
Other: 59/41

Should we not take control of our borders?  Especially in this case, where radicalized Muslims want to do us harm?
Liberals always seem to be more worried about not descriminating, and not hurting feelings of various groups, than taking necessary action!

I was bringing up the point to show that Trump doesn't mind allowing known dangerous Muslims into the US as long as he sees personal benefit, not to make any kind of commentary about Libya.
