Hopefully the rest of the GOP candidates use this to defeat him

Hmm...

Trump may have gone too far this time. Loving Israel is just as important to the GOP as repealing ObamaCare is, if not even moreso. We'll see.

Loving Israel is important to the neocon establishment and some of the loonier fundies, neither of whom are supporting TRUMP.

You say this every two or three days (and already twice today!).  It has yet to become true.

My view is that there are things Trump can say/do that even his devoted base will have a hard time expecting. And I identify potential for him doing that when I see it.

That being said, I will not move him out of the top spot in my odds until the polls justify it. And so far, they haven't.

I literally don't care to read whatever you just typed, but I did come back to note the following for this thread:

Trump has always had a great relationship with the Jews.  We all know that.  They like him and he likes them.

Bizarre that a guy, who has run his campaign on not taking money from special interest groups, telling a special interest group he will not take their money is construed as somehow anti-Semitic. Very bizarre.

He's a white supremacist, I really don't know if he's anti-semetic. The fact that he used to love Al Sharpton and this speech make me think it's possible.

Obviously, you and I disagree on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I have nothing against innocent, everyday palestinians who are peaceful. But I don't view their leadership as legitimate and for years, they've harmed the peace process by committing acts of terror. In theory, my view is that the settlements created by Israelis are okay because it's their land, but it's led to continued conflict. But the settlements aren't being created to provoke anyone, it isn't because the Israelis don't want peace. Israelis have been at the negotiating table for peace for decades now. Trump is simply wrong on this. Now, I would hope that you personally don't dislike Jews or Israelis, I know you disagree with their government's policies and you are entitled to your opinion.

I have said that Donald Trump is wrong to call for tracking all muslims. I have said that the majority of muslims in the United States are peaceful. So I would hope that when Donald Trump comes after another religious minority or makes inappropriate comments about them, we can agree that he's bigoted and full of hate.

I suspect his supporters agree with the way he said it. That's more important than whatever he was saying.

And of course Trump is right. For a guy clowned on his foreign policy, he seems to have the most realistic vision for the world (beyond his praising of Putin) of the GOP field. Between Rand Paul's neo-isolationism and the rest of the field's blatant war mongering, Trump stands out as comparatively thoughtful.

If Trump wants to pander to the Jewish vote and make sure he gets as many of them to vote for him as possible then saying Jerusalem is the capital of Israel will certainly help.

However if Trump really wants to be a negotiator for peace then coming out and saying it will only put the Palestinians off side and make it far more unlikely that there can be any form of negotiations.

Whatever Trump does is highly unlikely to succeed because the is no real chance that either side will back down on Jerusalem among other things, but not publicly backing one side is best shot of actually getting talks started.

Trump is right. Netanyahu said a two state solution is out of the question so Israel is using a "my way or the highway" approach so Israel's commitment to peace certainly should face skepticism. I'm not a trump fan but I like how he doesn't value Israel over America like the other republican candidates. Also, this won't bring him down. He has a populist devoted following that will gladly adjust their opinions to fit trump because he's that anti establishment anti political correctness candidate that doesn't give a s*it what he's supposed to do that the angry white nativist portion of the GOP has dreamed of.
