He'll drop out when the donors coalesce behind Rubio and the establishment begins to send signals that they want Rubio. They've already begun this process; Jeb is hanging on for dear life, but I think the goose is cooked. With members of Congress and major Republican donors flocking to Rubio, Jeb has lost this war of the Floridians.

I think he'll drop out by Christmas or Iowa. Preferably by Christmas, so Rubio can consolidate the establishment quickly and build the operation needed to clinch the Republican nomination through delegate accumulation.

If he's dropping it's be well before Iowa.

Either Rubio is finished - by scandal, takedown at the Dec 15th debate, or self-implosion somehow before the holidays, or Bush will drop out over the holidays.

Alternatively, I suppose Bush could rise up into the low teens while Rubio hangs at around 13% support too, but I've no idea where those voters come from. (Disenchanted but non-fanatical Carson supporters who like Jeb's 'only sane man in the room' schtick?)

But either way, if he's not polling in double-digits immediately after the next debate, he's done.

We have to see what happens in Iowa and New Hampshire. If Bush realizes Rubio is the best chance at defeating the socialist degenerate Trump, he will drop out and support Rubio. If Bush does better, he will not drop out.

Bush will be out before Iowa. Deal with it.

Oh please. Only the mainstream media and GOPe think he did well. It shows the massive disconnect between the establishment and GOP voters to think that Bush saying deportations are unAmerian is winning the debate.

Mass deportations are not popular with the American public, the vast majority of Americans favor the Bush-Rubio-Kasich approach to illegal immigration. The mass deportations morons like Trump and Cruz support would violate civil liberties and cost a minimum of $140 billion. Now, to be fair, if we could have deported Cruz's father back in the 1950s and Trump's wife in the 1990s, I would have been strongly in favor of that.

It wont cost anywhere near that much and illegals dont have the same civil liberties as do legal citizens and residents. Youre also missing the billions in costs that illegals put on the legal and healthcare systems.

It's far closer to winning the Presidency than any of the "pro-deportation" clowns. And winning the Presidency is theoretically the point of the whole process.

I think Bush's best bet is to keep making it clear that, unlike most of the rest of the field, he can actually win the Nov. election. It's that he has to do so while staying viable, funded, and not alienating the rightwingnuts that makes it tricky.

No one believes he can win in Nov. No poll shows him doing better than the rest of the field. And frankly many GOP voters wouldnt consider Bush an improvement over Obama or Clinton. Me, Id sit out the election like I did in 1992.

The fact that you still hang out on a political forum despite being >40 years old is like...wow.

That aside, no one aside from delusional users like you and King has said that Bush CANNOT win a general.

Yup. Right now the establishment is being careful to avoid offending Jeb, but for the most part they've already dumped him. Witness the fact that so many of them are scolding Jeb for daring to attack Rubio, and you see where their loyalties really lie. If they really wanted Jeb, they'd support him doing whatever he needs to do to win. However, none of them gave a damn when Trump (or any other candidate for that matter) attacked Jeb in the last few months. They want Rubio treated like a porcelain figurine for a reason.

The only thing he demolished was his public image. Dude was stuttering and stammering all over the place. He needs to step out and endorse TRUMP.
Not happening. There is a better chance of him endorsing Hillary Clinton, as the Clintons and Bushes are very close. Most likely, however, Bush will endorse John Kasich when he drops out.

I'm still not sure Jeb Bush makes it to the primaries. The reason why is simple: This debate wasn't a marked change in the right direction, it was merely a step up from a deep hole. Jeb didn't solve the continual problem of his campaign. He didn't halt Marco Rubio. He didn't have a big win against anyone. Little changed except he didn't screw up all night. The press is reporting he had a good night because, compared to the last three debates, he had a good night. That doesn't solve the pressing problem that Jeb Bush does not make good public appearances, he's gaffe prone, and his positions are toxic within his own party, and there is someone courting his own donors and voters who does the whole "establishment republican" thing a lot better.
