Ok at this point the only reason I'm staying up is to see how the Greens do on Vancouver Island.

It isn't working, but now I do get to watch Patrick Leahy speak about historical judicial rulings on the Senate floor.

Have you tried streaming coverage from one of the links at the beginning of this thread?

Im ignorant on Canadian politics.....what are the main policy differences between the Liberals and the New Democrats?

It seems both are center-leftish parties vying for the anti-Haper vote?

It seems that CPC would actually match their pre-election polling.  In fact given how badly they did in the Atlantic region they might have actually over-performed polls in the rest of Canada.  What beat them was the large shift of the NDP and GRN vote bloc over to LPC.

This is really a lot like the British elections, where everyone expected a Minority Government, but one party had an unexpected wave.  Granted, it was on the other side in Canada, and I don't know the dynamics of the races (especially in Canada).

As an aside, it hard to get used to these small vote totals in the ridings. They are comparable to vote totals in IL state house races.

I just realized that the last time Louis-Hebert re-elected an MP was 1988 Tongue

Going to be a bit outrageous here but will former Prime Minister Stephen Harper's ego allow him to remain leader of the Conservatives and if he does try to remain is it likely he will be ousted?

EDIT: meant Conservative leader

I had a feeling there was momentum towards a Liberal Majority, but I didn't want to go out on that limb for a prediction. I think what's even more stunning is the collapse of the NDP. They're back to their pre-2011 levels. Wow.

It's a majority government, so yes, very quickly.

That's actually an interesting thought. It's hard telling what Harper will do, but for me its kind of hard to see him going out gracefully.
