Q&A about the Socialist Programme

What is the Socialist plan for South America?
The Socialist Party wants inherently just one thing: for South America to progress. We plan on taking a route to organising our country in a federal, but unified system, through crafting policies that help everyone and leave no one behind. Contrary to other parties, we do not seek to craft one big enemy against which to hysterically derail; we seek solutions and not problems. Instead of blaming one side, we invite both to the table of negotiation.

Can you give a current, clear example for this?
Yes. Let's take the currently hotly discussed issue of worker's organisation and unionisation, which the current conservative government decided to unify by crafting a bill that, in our opinion, severely limits the ability of workers to organise and shifts the balance unfairly to the employer's side. The Conservative leader and Prime Minister Potus himself stated this bill was intended to break the power of union bosses. Such a motive will never be seen under a Socialist government. If elected, we would repeal this bill, and replace it with a new, fairer system: both employers and employees shall be able to organise themselves, in an organisation or chamber for employers on the one side, and an organisation or chamber for employees on the other. Now, whenever there is an issue at hand, both shall together, as equal partners, sit down, and try to find a common solution. This would lead to employers and employees working together in trying to find the best possible solution to increase prosperity and our standard of living, for both sides. You can see, the Socialist party is not a party that tries to please just one constituency. Our work is done just then when a meaningful compromise for both sides is found.

Will a Socialist government transform South America into Soviet Russia?
Obviously not. The Socialist Party values the individual and the private choices of every citizen, in fact, our point of existence is to give everyone the chance to do anything he can accomplish himself, by providing everyone with the same starting position. We do not want to make everyone equal, as some might believe - we want to make everyone equally privileged, give everyone the equal starting position, so that everyone has the chance to live a fruitful life, according to his own abilities, motives and needs.

How do the Socialists plan to accomplish this?
A Socialist government would craft legislation in many areas. We would first and foremost strengthen and unify our welfare state, by increasing funding for such valuable and important cornerstones of our society such as healthcare, social security, child benefits, maternal or paternal leaves, and unemployment or disability benefits. Secondly, one Socialist top priority has always been the education of our children: we want to make every level of education, from pre-school and child nurseries to tertiary education in universities or colleges, free of charge for every citizen. The third important point of our agenda includes the idea that everyone that works should be able to live a fruitful live with his or her income: we will increase the minimum wages for every workers so that a person is able to feed him or herself and his or her family when he or she is employed, in any profession. Considering that costs of living currently differ between our constituent nations, this shall slowly be harmonised, but obviously start out at different points.

How do you plan to pay for this?
By asking everyone to pay their share. We want to harmonise the tax code, asking the wealthy to pay more, but letting the lower class keep their hard earned money. We will ask corporations to pay their share as well, but at the same time we will reward those that create jobs and employment in our nation by exempting from a certain share of taxes. Thirdly, we will unify and harmonise public ownership of certain natural resources that are common property, and let those revenues play a share in profiting everyone.

One last question: Will a Socialist government include Mr. Murica as Minister responsible for Finance?
I hear such is a scenario a certain somebody envisions a Socialist government, but I can promise every South American that Mr. Murica will not in any way be included in a Socialist-led cabinet.
