I'm not really sure what my subculture or ethnic identity is, so neither.

It's hard to be gay, and not go with the subculture option.

Let me put it this way. I grew up within walking distance of this fine establishment:

Let me also add that the town briefly tried to prevent filming there because of complaints about negative Italian-American stereotypes.

Take a wild guess.

Suppose ethnic identity. I don't really belong in a subculture.

I'm male, white, straight, lower middle class. I'm not sure I belong to a specific sub culture. Unless that sub culture is the stereotypical suburban white America?

I voted ethnicity, but I don't feel connected to either really.

Ethnicity, because I'm pretty sure I don't have a subculture.

Neither?  I don't feel connected to Ireland, although I love it, and I don't have a "subculture".  This is a strange question

Are you an Irish Catholic? As a practicing Catholic, I suppose my "ethnic identity" of being Irish feeds into that, so I went with "ethnic identity" over "subculture."

Yes, I'm an Irish Catholic.  I guess if I had to choose I would pick ethnicity for that reason, but still I don't really feel like it defines me in any way

Not entirely sure what the difference would be, for me, and that would probably be true for more people who are minorities... But I'll vote for ethnic identity since I also feel connected to Jews who don't adhere to the same Jewish lifestyle/"subculture" as I do.

This.

Uh hardly true for all, I know that all Jews in the hardcore scene would answer that over their Jewishness.
How, exactly, does your statement contradict my statement? Because you seem to imply that.
He's a dick.

and I'm in the don't have a sub-culture or ethnic identity group.

White Americans are de facto an ethnic group by now.

The two are not always empirically separable, you know?

They are in the US.

Lolno. Maybe for some Italian Americans, Irish Americans or WASPs, but not for everyone...

You do realize I don't fall into any of those categories, and neither do most whites in the region in which I live, which is one of the most disconnected from ethnic identities and cultures in the country?

All that proves is that most white Americans de facto have merged into one ethnicity (discounting recent migrants and a few groups with an especially strong attachment to the "motherland"). The reason you do not consider it an ethnic identity is because its the dominant ethnic identity in the country and you are used to using ethnicity for something related to ancestry, but you obviously have an ethnicity.

I think this would be an excellent juncture to write 'check your privilege' would it not?

I don't even know what the f _ ck my subculture would be, LOL.  I am pretty proud that my family is German- and Swedish-American, and I am also proud to be a native Illinoisan.

I almost become more proud when people like BRTD get their panties in a wad over how "stupid" it is, haha.

I'm not really able to give a suitable answer to that, on the one hand because I don't partake in any subculture I'm aware of, but mainly because even the supposedly "easy" part of ethnicity is actually not that easy to answer for me... What ethnicity am I? White European? German(-speaking)? Austrian? Tyrolean? All of the above?

White European is not an ethnicity and feeling ethnically German would be odd for an Austrian your age, so Austrian or Tyrolean - perhaps both? (as one can be both Scottish and British). Tyrolean seems to enough of a separate and "deep" identity to be comparable to Catalonian, Galician, Scottish etc.

At this point I would consider German speaking to be a regional/cultural identity on the level of Scandinavian, not anything ethnic.
