Mr. Speaker,

I will keep my remarks brief and to the point.

This bill will put a halt to, and hopefully reverse, the continued degradation of the rich and diverse ecosystems that our continent is proud to call home, such as the Amazon Rainforest. I hope that this is something that all sides of politics will back; this is not an ideological issue, but one fundamentally of basic human decency.
