Yeah, 1992 and to a lesser extent was the last gasp of Southern parochialism matched up with Clinton centrism, building a coalition of traditional Democratic Black voters and swinging whites who voted for Carter/Reagan/Bush. But that faded even there, despite Clinton strengthening in other regions. And it was dead by 2000, largely due to the collapse of the Southern White vote for the Democrats.
