I just don't understand how Carson generates so much excitement with his debate performances.

He's too soft spoken and sleepy imo, but I guess older evangelicals like him...

I just don't understand how Carson generates so much excitement with his debate performances.

I'm not certain myself. I used to think it was 100% religious nutjobs (and that still could be his base).  But he's careful to not spout the real crazy stuff (such as the fact that he doesn't believe in evolution) in the debates, so he may be getting some support from the combination of not being a politician and not being an ass, which makes him unique on the stage.

Some people like a respectable non-establishment candidate, a quiet conservative. Based on Rand's failing numbers, there's probablya few soft Paul 12-Carson 16 supporters.
