The main knock against Ben Carson is that he doesn't have the experience necessary to be President.
But he's currently in second place in most primary polls. And he's making friends with the other Republican candidates for President. In the likely event that he's not the presidential nominee, he's an obvious choice to serve in the administration of a Republican President elected in 2016, as Surgeon General and/ or Health and Human Services Secretary.
In the event that happens, can he use that as a launching pad for another presidential bid? He'll be in his early 70s, but still younger than Bob Dole in 1996 or Bernie Sanders now.
