Yes, though I fear that if it is legalized the government will over regulate it like they have done with alcohol.

Recreational use: I'd keep it illegal.

Medical reasons: State issue

Definitely legal for medical use.

Recreational use should legal but regulated. This should be a state-by-state issue.

R - no

I am very familiar with the argument that says the government could better regulate it if it were legalized, but I don't think that the government can regulate something like that is a very good reason for legalizing it. People are going to do it anyway? People are going to do a lot of stuff anyway.

Depending upon the situation, it could be legalized for medical use, but my concern here is, knowing people, people will start finding ways to get it to others who don't 'need' it.

So I say it should not be legalized.

Yes, and tax the living sh**t out of it.  People will still buy with a 40% tax on it's sale.

The government could also sell crack with a 1000% tax and make out like bandits.  But that'll never happen and I'm not so sure it'd be a good thing in the long run.

Pot is worthless except for the fact it's illegal. Whatever it was sold for, it would be pure profit for the government (like ABC's, just way more profitable).

The problem with that logic is that when you tax something too much, you get a black market. One of the primary reasons to legalize it is that it will get rid of the violence that results from the black market surrounding the product.

Mary Jane actually does inhibit many of your reflexes, much like alcohol. I say legalize it and regulate it the same way alcohol is regulated.

Wow, I agree with StatesRights.

I think I'm going to go lie down. Smiley

I was thinking the same.

Even with taxes, the cost will likely decrease if it was legal.

Well, the thing is, you need to ensure that it actually is cheaper to sell it legally than illegally. And with marijuana, you don't have a very expensive drug to begin with.

Hell yeah!  And we should get free herb from the government if it will help any verified medical condition that we suffer from.

That I disagree with. The government shouldn't be in the business to purchase or distribute medicinal drugs.

How about  a voucher system?  Or at least allow Medicaid to pay for it for the old dudes.  If you have a legitimate prescription from your doctor for your medicine, there ought to be some provision for you to be able to recieve it if you are poor, and/or handicapped or on a low income.
