Bob Casey Jr in the 2006 primary.  He then goes on to defeat Rick Santorum in a stunning come from behind victory on General Election day.

Upset of the year?
Upset of the Century?
Upset of the Decade?
Greatest Upset of our lifetime?
Greatest upset of ALL time?

Primary upset? Huge.  General election upset? Even bigger.

I'm assuming these are nationwide potention upsets...

Upset of the year? Probably
Upset of the Century? No
Upset of the decade? Probably not
Greatest upset of our lifetime? No way
Greatest upset of ALL time? No way

Im bascially asking if Pennachio was to defeat Casey and then go on to defeat Santorum would it be the upset of the year?  Or even bigger like the Greatest upset in American history?  Which category would you place it under?

Oh, I see. It would most likely be the Upset of the year and one of the greatest upsets in PA political history.

It would be on the modern times list, quite highly, assuming no weird series of meltdowns (i.e. if Casey has some problem and then Santorum does also).

Definitely upset of the year, almost certainly of 5 years, and most likely 10 years. 1994 had some but that's past the 10 year mark obviously.

Amazing is what it would be. If he beats Casey, I'd be very worried about him beating Santorum.

You better be joking. The only reason why he'd beat Casey is because he'd turn out the liberal base. In the General election, that liberal base does not outnumber conservatives. Santorum would have a strong hold on the GOP and do very, very well among conservative Dems.

I'll give him that. He'd get tons of attention and a good amount of money. He'd be the Howard Dean of U.S. Senate candidates. However, the GOP would unite and conservative Dems wouldn't even consider him.

If I were Santorum, I'd be praying for Pennachio to win the primary!

He is but realizes that it will be nearly impossible for him to beat Casey.

It would be the biggest upset in the Senate since Paul Wellstone beat Rudy Boschwitz in 1990. Pennachio is no Wellstone.

Casey will win the primary easily.

That's pretty weird. I just got done skimming over an article on some far-left website calling Pennachio the next Wellstone.

Wellstone was a great, powerful public speaker, a guy you would never forget.

Pennachio comes across as weak and somewhat effeminate.

Met Chuck personally.  Yeah, I'll have to agree.  He comes off as a nervous college professor teaching for the first time and this was speaking to a group of Young Democrats at a Society Hill Pub, which was informal.  I would not like to see him on center stage with Rick Santorum.
