The 2008 election in 1988.

Presidents up to this point:

Barry Goldwater 1961-1969

Prescott Bush 1969-1973

Clinton Analogue 1973-1981

George Bush 1981-1989

George Bush is not a popular president. He has started a second vietnam in the hot sands of the middle east, he won the 1980 election without winning the popular vote, and a recession has just started during the end of his presidency. The Democrats swept congress in 1986, but now they've gone and nominated a black man in 1988. John McCain, Bush's main primary opponent in 1980, has easily been nominated by the GOP without much opposition.

Don't try to think about how McCain ran for president that early, these candidates are both from 2008. I just want to know if Obama can pull it off 20 years beforehand. I know that in 1968 he would have lost easily and in 2008 he had it in the bag, but what about '88?

What would a map look like? Remember that Barack Obama is far more charismatic than Jesse Jackson

303: Sen. John McCain(R-AZ)/Amb. Jeane Kirkpatrick(R-MD) - 39.6%
234: Sen. Barack Obama(D-IL)/Rep. Richard Gephardt(D-MO) - 37.0%
001: Businessman Ross Perot(I-TX)/Fmr Rep. John Anderson(I-IL) - 23.0%

I'm predicting a 44-50 approval-disapproval rating for Bush here on Election Day.
