Women Returning to Democratic Party, Poll Finds

The gender gap is now 25 years old and, according to recent polling, it is alive and well.
A Democratic polling memo released yesterday found that women, who voted for President Bush last year in large numbers, have begun migrating back to their traditional home in the Democratic Party as the public's agenda has shifted from homeland security and terrorism to domestic concerns such as jobs and the economy.

The gender gap was very small in 2004, so this poll may simply show the difference between likely voters (those who actually voted in November, and who also favored Bush) with registered voters (those in this poll, who have less support for Bush.) I think that is what the article is refering to here:

The fact that 2006 is an off-year election means that non-likely voters are even less likely to vote, so this poll is pretty much meaningless.
