Just to clarify: "aye" is in favor of striking that clause, and thus allowing people to hold office in both, while "nay" is in favor of keeping the clause, forcing someone to choose between one or the other?

Or have I misunderstood, and got that backwards?

I can see the rationale for the ban on foreign officeholders, but believe it should be discussed by a properly elected government and that it should be a topic for debate during the campaign.

Aye on Leinad's amendment.

Aye (in favor of striking the prohibition). This is a decision to be made by an elected government.

I'm very much in favor of banning foreign officeholders from holding office; even putting the issue of coexistence of Atlasia and South America aside, the ban would be vital to ensuring that people are active and engaged in their office, instead of putting a half-assed effort toward two positions. However, more controversial issues that don't involve the basic framework of the game should be decided by an elected parliament, as Oakvale said.

Nay on the clause/Aye on striking the clause.

Aye on striking the clause/Nay on the clause itself.

I get what you mean, but I think that some people (myself included) will be able to do both, and should have that option open. If someone's doing both and not doing well, they could be voted out--or maybe if we point it out to them they'll realize they can't do both and voluntarily give one up.

Allotted voting time is up and the clause is upheld. I move for a final vote on this bill and dissolution of the provisional parliament.

Yes, this (unfortunately IMO) happens to be the case. Sad

Anyway, I also move for a final vote on this bill.

The clause to strike was upheld. The amendment clause struck the portion of the bill that banned serving in Atlasia and here.

As I have already moved for what Talleyrand is motioning, I'm going to treat that as a second and open a vote on Bill 0-5. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain.
