What was the last full calendar year which passed during which there were no elections held anywhere in the world?

Okay, does this include private organizations?

If public, are you referring to local or national elections, or both?

Good question. NM has held school board and some municipal elections every odd-numbered year since at least 1978 (the last major rewrite of the NM state constitution), so that would stretch the year back at least that far.

I had elections of national scale, such as nationwide parliamentary or executive elections in mind, but it would also be interesting to include local elections, in which case it probably extends way before 1978.

It's probably best to leave local elections out of it, or you may never find a year until before the 20th century.

Yes of course. I don't think we'll ever know how many times a ship's officers took a vote on whether or not to wait out the storm.
