Its probably closer if you remove CNN and ABC/WaPo from the average, not like this matters given that the election is not for over a year, I wonder why these networks and pollsters waste money on polls of elections that are so far away

I'm not optimistic. I like Rand Paul more than Hillary just for intrigue factor. But this is Hillary's election. No other way to slice it.

So how do you think she overcomes the hostile media? Just out of curiosity.

Don't get me wrong, it's certainly possible for her to do so. And she's obviously still the favorite (and would be a lock if the election were held today.) But I think it lessens her odds significantly from what they would otherwise be. I'd give her something like 60-65%.

I can see the argument for CNN since it's among adults, but I don't know why you'd exclude the WaPo poll when it was among RVs. Either way, the fact remains that this is certainly not a 2 point race and to describe it as such would involve cherrypicking. At the moment, it seems more like Hillary is winning by an Obama 2008-esque margin against the non joke candidates.

The media will be on Hillary's side once she is the nominee. They are desperate for Warren or O'Mallet to emerge

I'm now going to start calling him O'Mallet.

Possibly, but I'm skeptical, particularly if Jeb or Rubio is the Republican nominee, both of whom they seem to love. We'll see I guess.

The media have vested interests in keeping the 2016 election as interesting as possible so that it can get advertising revenue and sell subscriptions.

Absolutely right.

Not necessarily. They sided with Bush over Gore in 2000.

2000 was 15 years ago. A lot has changed.

Indeed. Now with the internet the Republican media can't so easily dominate and make a huge fuss out of non-issues like sighing during a debate or get away with distorting a quote ("I invented the internet").
