This is very difficult so here's a story I made up that works.

Registered Republican. Older single white guy, lives in rural Idaho on a ranch. Military vet. Probably socially libertarian with a few right leaning positions. Was involved with militia movements. Cares about the "little guy". He still prides himself on being a survivalist and conspiracy theorist. Has 20 guns in his house. Super anti Persian Gulf War and anti Federal Reserve which is why he voted for Bo Gritz, out of a grudge towards Bush and a distaste for Clinton and the "overly wealthy" Perot. Also, his militia friends supported Bo Gritz and coaxed him out of voting for Perot. In 1996, his opposition to the "New World Order" political mainstream/banking interests leads him to cast a ballot for Nader, who he views as the only viable candidate. In 2000, he resents Bush's social extremism and Gore's wishy-washy policies and once again casts his ballot for Nader because he believes that Nader will put the country back on track away from global government and a police state while fighting the bankers and corporatists who seek to "install fascism". Very angry when Bush wins in 2000. In 2001, he actively protests the Patriot Act and believes the nation is on the verge of fascism. However, in 2004, out of anger towards Nader's vote splitting, refuses to vote for him. Also, he hates Kerry's "east coast" outlook and swallows his utter hate for Bush and casts that ballot for him. Since the early 1990's, his stances on race issues have become more tolerant. As he ages, he begins to get some commonsense and gives up his militia and conspiracy stuff. He votes for Obama because he wants an end to the war in Iraq.

I'd love to know the story behind the three people in the whole country that voted this way.

My head is spinning out of control, but I'll try.

A rural Western conspiracy theriost environmentalist who's attracted to New Age and tends leftward, but nonetheless respects the militia movement and unquestioningly believes in the Illuminati. This person voted for Gritz in 1992 despite finding him way too far-right because he's the only anti-NWO candidate in the race. Nader's criticism of Clinton's civil liberties and his green politics convinces this person it's safe to support him.

As the 1990s drifts on, this person abandoned conspiracy theories and becomes more mainstream, but still respects Nader and gives him another vote in 2000. However, 9/11 convinces this person to adopt a nationalistic attitude, and they vote for Bush in 2004, only to regret it in 2008 and support Obama.

Or something like that.

Yeah I admit that the Bush 04 part was a bit of a curveball. Michael Badnarak would have probably been more consistent.

A disaffected white teenager who starts off as a neo-Nazi blaming immigrants and minorities for his problems and those of society, but between 1993 and 1995, gradually becomes disillusioned with them and gravitates towards environmentalism and leftism. He enthusiastically votes for Nader in both 1996 and 2000. He eventually becomes and evangelical Christian and votes for Bush because of abortion, despite deep misgivings about the War in Iraq and Bush's record on the environment. He stops supporting Bush after the Katrina Fiasco, becomes a Democrat, and votes for Obama in 2008.

After 9/11 gave up his antiestablishment views; was ready for change by 2008. Since he voted Bush in '04, probably switched to Romney in '12 (especially since he'd have to be at least 38 years old-- Obama's constituency is under-30s)
