A map of the 2008 Presidential primary in the city of Chicago.
In general elections, the Chicago maps can be kind of boring outside of marveling at certain wards that go 99.5% Democrat. Democratic primaries (which include mayorals, since that's basically what those are) are where the maps can really get interesting.
Black wards were in the 90's for Obama, some up in the 98-99% area.
White wards were in the 60's-70's for Obama.
The Clinton wards are Hispanic areas, highlighting historic racial tensions between blacks and Hispanics.
The map may look like it should have been closer than 75-25% with the number of Clinton wards, but many of those wards saw low turnout due to apathetic Hispanics whereas black and white areas had big turnouts, both Obama-friendly areas. Plus, Obama's got huge margins on the south side whereas areas that Clinton won were no higher than in the 60's.
