Full statehood would be ideal, but it would never happen, so I support merging it into Maryland. That's a fair compromise.

I support it, but absent making Columbia a state (or part of a state), there is no way to give Washington City any US Senators.  Fiddling with the two Senators per State rule requires the approval of all the States.

Absolutely it should have full representation. It has a larger population than Wyoming, which has full representation.

If we're going to merge it with a state, let's merge it with Virginia. Smiley Original ownership be damned.

Retrocession to Maryland would actually go over reasonably well in Washington. The sticking point would be in Baltimore...Maryland wouldn't be too thrilled about having Washington affect all their statistics about poverty and crime. (Yes, I know D.C.'s crime rate has been falling like a stone for 25 years now, it's still considerably higher than the national average). Letting Washington vote in Maryland's Senate elections but remaining a separate entity seems a far better solution than retrocession, especially if coupled with real home rule for Washington.

No, D.C. needs to go away and be annexed into Maryland, it's silly for a single city to have the same rights as a state, just as it's silly and unfair too that they have basically no rights at the federal level.
The parts of D.C. that are not federal property should simply become part of Maryland and be represented as such
