There aren't enough minority politicians who could be President to pick from.

Yes. After Obama and Hillary, the leadership will want  a bland nominee for a change.

Seriously? Don't worry, America still loves old white Christian men (just look at congress), so I'm sure the Democrats will nominate another one of them soon enough.

Martin O'Malley? Patrick Kennedy? Tim Kaine? Mark Warner? Joe Biden? Gavin Newsom?

Out of the last 20 odd democratic nominations only one has been non-white

I don't see any of those men capturing a DNC nomination, other than Newsom maybe.

However, Joe Kennedy, Chris Murphy, Martin Heinich, Tim Ryan, Jared Polis are young possibilities.

Yes, although this should probably be in the presidential trends section.

There are several reasons.

The bench of Democratic white guys who hold the type of offices that could be used to launch presidential bids is pretty big.

For example, with Democratic Senators born in 1958 or later, eight are white men, five are women and one is a black man.

Future candidates won't have the appeal of a Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. There won't be as much interest in selecting the second female nominee. It would be nice to nominate a Hispanic candidate for President but it's not as big a deal as the first black man (given the country's racial past) or the first woman (given their percentage of the population.)

Of course it will happen. The only non white male people I could think of at this point who could get the nomination eventually would be Julian Castro (if he was Clintons VP), or Elizabeth Warren.

Getting nominated, over the next 8 or so elections?  Almost surely.

Actually becoming president?  With the current party coalitions, it would be very difficult for a [straight] white male Dem to get the turnout needed to win.  He would probably need a 2008/1932 situation where the economy just decides everything.
