I got curious about who was the most prolific poster from each Atlas "class" (year of registration).  This is what I came up with after a quick scroll down the list of users sorted by post count.  Apologies if I missed anyone.

2003: BRTD 97,603
2004: Lewis 58,229
2005: Grumps 42,564
2006: olawakandi 58,909
2007: dead0man 39,903
2008: NC Yankee 50,972
2009: Kalwejt 57,447
2010: 20RP12 34,153
2011: Scott 38,851
2012: Maxwell 28,498
2013: IceSpear 31,905
2014: Xing 26,349
2015: Punxsutawney Phil 22,621
2016: brucejoel99 16,862
2017: Dr. MB 12,268
2018: Progressive Pessimist 23,595
2019: S019 14,447
2020: Battista Minola 9,118
2021: CentristRepublican 2,474

That's quite a drop after 2009.  The earlier generation of posters just had more people who were willing to post at insanely high rates for a long period of time.  Even olawakandi, who only somewhat recently became such a high volume poster, actually registered on the forum back in 2006.  (And currently, ~half of his posts were made in the past 2 years!)

For another example, it looks like Kal actually made over 11,000 posts in his first year on the forum.  Yet nobody who registered in 2020 or 2021 has made it to 10,000 yet, even though those who registered in early 2020 have had nearly 2 years to get there.

I presume because newer posters join discord and spend less of their time here. I'm sure that Battista would be above 11,000 posts if he hadn't decided to join discord. There are so few new posters in 2021 compared to previous years as well so that may explain why someone with around 2,500 posts is in first for that year.

Looking at my own class (2008) is actually what got me started on this.  NC Yankee's 50K+ posts make him the class leader by a huge margin; second-place PiT is just below 30K, then there are three of us in the low 20K's.

So my own posting rate has slowed way down since the 2020 election, but I'm only ~280 posts away from catching up to Eraserhead for 11th place, so possibly a few months from passing him.  But it looks like Eraserhead has returned to the forum a few days ago, after a year's absence:

https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?action=profile;u=1665;sa=showPosts

Maybe he's hoping to fend me off from catching up to him.

Grumps just passed Lief for 13th place.  At present rate, will presumably pass both Eraserhead and myself some time next year, and make it to 11th place.  But the gap between 10th and 11th remains large, so it’s still quite possible that he’ll never make it into the top 10.

Old School Republican could someday reach the top 10. 650 or so posts over the past 30 days, and he's already over 30,000.

OC seems to be posting much more than BRTD lately. I wonder how long it would take for OC to surpass BRTD if they keep their current posting frequency

The gap in posting rate has narrowed quite a bit, as you can see on the stats page:

https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?action=stats

Olawakandi is now just over 1000 posts a month, and slowly trending downward.  While BRTD is at just over 750 posts a month, which is notably higher than his historical average.  If they actually maintained a ~250 posts per month gap, then it would take about 12.5 years for olawakandi to catch up…..at which point they’d both be just over 200,000 posts each(!).  A 250 post per month deficit is just not that big a gap, given how much ground olawakandi has to make up.  It’ll take over a decade at that rate.  You need olawkandi to start posting more or BRTD to start posting less in order to get it done faster.

In other news, we’re continuing to look at a rather long timeframe for any fresh blood to enter the top 10.  Like at least 3 years before someone other than the current top 10 is listed.  The posters outside the top ten who are making 400+ posts a month currently, like Badger, OSR, and Tim Turner, just have way too much ground to make up.  Whereas those in the 40k+ club who are outside the top 10 (like Grumps, Lief, Torie, dead0man, and myself) just aren’t posting enough to reach the top 10 for several years.  But maybe myself and others will pick it up once 2024 approaches.

I think that BRTD may intentionally be posting more lately just to that he can get to the 100k mark. Afterwards, the post per month gap between him and OC may increase. I wonder if OC can reach 75k posts by the end of this year?

I don't know, we'll see.  BRTD's posting rate may drop later on, but so may olawakandi's.  It's only in the last couple of years that the latter has been making ~1000+ posts a month, and he may not keep doing so for the years it would take to catch BRTD.  There's still a lot of ground to make up.

And as I mentioned, olawakandi has been slowly drifting downward in posting rate of late, and he just dropped below 1000 posts a month for the first time in a while.  The gap between him and BRTD in post rate is currently less than 200 posts a month.

If I made as many posts in 2022 as I did in 2021, I'd likely end up somewhere between #25 and #30, from the looks of it.

BRTD's posting rate has increased even more (up to nearly 900 posts in the last month).  If he keeps this up, then he's less than a month away from reaching 100k posts.

And olawakandi has dropped to 2nd place in the "posts in the last 30 days" race, behind CentristRepublican.  First time olawakandi's dropped below 1st place on that list in a while.....but that just means that he's "only" making 1000 posts a month instead of 1200, like he used to.

I got curious about who was the most prolific poster from each Atlas "class" (year of registration).  This is what I came up with after a quick scroll down the list of users sorted by post count.  Apologies if I missed anyone.

2003: BRTD 97,603
2004: Lewis 58,229
2005: Grumps 42,564
2006: olawakandi 58,909
2007: dead0man 39,903
2008: NC Yankee 50,972
2009: Kalwejt 57,447
2010: 20RP12 34,153
2011: Scott 38,851
2012: Maxwell 28,498
2013: IceSpear 31,905
2014: Xing 26,349
2015: Punxsutawney Phil 22,621
2016: brucejoel99 16,862
2017: Dr. MB 12,268
2018: Progressive Pessimist 23,595
2019: S019 14,447
2020: Battista Minola 9,118
2021: CentristRepublican 2,474

For a more recent-ish example, I'm the most prolific poster from 2016, yet I didn't even join Atlas 'til December 31st, 2016.

By the Atlas forum calendar, we've reached March 2022: The month that BRTD breaks the 100k mark.

Despite a boost in activity on the forum in the past week due to Ukraine, February 2022 is still down 3% in total posts made compared to the month that came at this point in the last 4 year presidential cycle: February 2018.  So that's 3 consecutive months in which we've had a lower post count than we did 4 years ago, even if the differences are small.

I guess there's just not quite as much to talk about in Biden's America as compared to Trump's America.

Trump was in the news day-in and day-out. Given his background in reality television, he is an expert at getting the media to pay attention to him.
