Samantha Bee should get it. If not her: bring back Wyatt Cenac.

Of these, John Oliver would be the dream. Realistically, Jason Jones, Jessica Williams or Samantha Bee would be incredible.

It's probably going to be Jones or Bee, but I like enough of what I see out of Jordan Klepper to say he's going to be better than all of them.

If John Oliver didn't get his own show already, we wouldn't even be asking this question. But as he did, Samantha Bee.

They should just cancel the show. It was Stewart's show.

Jon wasn't the first host, Craig Kilborn did it for the first 3 years. He wasn't any good though.

Tina Fey would be a great choice. John Hodgman or Jason Jones would be good too.

Personally I think Stewart should have replaced Letterman and Colbert could then have The Daily Show

The show was completely different with Craig Kilborn. It wasn't even a political satire show at all, it mostly just served as more of a parody of E!-style celebrity gossip shows, covering mostly that, and the correspondents covered those "weird news" stories local stations love to pick up on, rather than now which is mostly skewering right wing talking points. It wasn't really a political show until Bush took office.

And of course Kilborn's guests were always B or C-list celebrities. No one would've ever thought of him interviewing a presidential candidate or cabinet member.

I don't know why people aren't talking about Aasif Mandvi. He's hilarious (and wouldn't be a boring white guy). I guess he's kind of old, at 48 (about the same age as Stewart and Colbert).

Preferably John Oliver who's just hilarious. I doubt he'll do it though. It's just going to be sad to see Jon Stewart go and without Stephen Colbert either, it just won't be the same anymore. Sad

Jason Jones or John Oliver would be the only ones that would keep me watching.

Not sure if they need someone young for that show, but:

Stewart 1962
Colbert 1964
Mandvi 1966

I guess most just don't find Aasif Mandvi funny - I also though his repertoire is a bit too simple.

A Bee / Jones duo would be awesome. Of course, I'm biased.

Sorry to go against pro-diversity hire grain, but with Wilmore replacing Colbert and doing seemingly nothing but minority jokes so far in the episodes I've caught, I really hope they keep the Daily Show hosted by a "boring white guy." I have nothing against Mandvi or Bee or Cenac or Madrigal getting shows. Actually I'd prefer all of them to have replaced Colbert than Wilmore, who I never really liked, but I feel like two non-white males in the hour block would be compelled to spend too much time on minority/womens issues and make it unwatchable. Also, when you're going up against FOX and cable news BS as the main source of comedy, I feel like it comes stronger against those types if a white male is delivering it.

The only possible exception would be a Kristen Schaal host, who is too awesome to contain.

Not sure why you think a female host would need to spend a lot of time talking about "womens issues". T

Schaal strikes me as a "one trick pony", not sure she would work. I find Madrigal and Mandvi unfunny. Madriagal to a "why is this guy a comedian?" degree.

I don't think they would need to, but I feel like they would compelled to and that their staff would write them a lot of women's jokes.

I think there's a nice blank piece of paper element of having a boring white guy host. He can go in any direction and then use the correspondents to fine tune the routine.

Samantha Bee covers a lot of women's issues as a correspondent but that's just a niche that wouldn't apply as host. Plus we're talking about someone who managed to make a segment about rape in the military funny. Not easy is quite the understatement...and I'm not too sure if any male could pull that off.
