This was discussed in IRC for a bit.

The "True Social Democrats" are the people who sort of sit between the Moderate Heroes and "True Progressives" (like Lief and myself), like the "True Progressives" they tend to support center-left parties, but have a pretty skewed view of things. Most consider all mainstream center-left social democratic parties to be ideal regardless of just how worthless or incompetant they are, and while they might criticize the Democrats, they also buy into the idea that all European parties are far left of the Democrats and thus all European social democratic parties are progressive heroes. I'm thinking for example of the people who voted for Hollande in that "Hollande vs. Obama" poll awhile back, and the ones who were pretty hackish about supporting PASOK before they basically disintegrated. And yes these are probably the people who think Hollande's legalization of gay marriage makes him some sort of strong fighter for progressive social democratic values.

Even in PASOK's 'glory days' nobody here praised the party, if you glance through old threads.

I think the meme of Europe being super lefties!!! is very pernicious, but most of Atlas is not taken in by that particular fallacy.
