I don't know much about New Labor, but the Democrats aren't progressive at all - at least, not by my subjective definition. I guess anyone's take on 'progress' is just what he wants to happen, right?

New Labour are like the New Democrats slightly more rightwing then the Old labour or in the Dems place the Progressive Majority but (olny the Dems) more left wing than the small rightwing groups.

Your trying to simplify the meaning of Socialism course than we can always turn to RedStar2k

I have thought of a better definition: the idea that the government should provide for the general welfare of its citizens. Would you agree with that?

None of these countries are communist. The world only has five communist states:

-China
-Cuba
-Laos
-North Korea
-Vietnam

It appears that "went that way" is an avowed communist himself. So guess his answer.

There is no such thing as a "Communist state" it is a contradictiary term.  None of these countries even call themselves "Communist States" they all call themselves Socialist but most of them aren't even that.
China, Laos, and Vietnam have all adopted liberal economic policies so they aren't even Socialist.  Niether is North Korea or Cuba.  Cuba is half Socialist and North Korea never was any where near Socialism.
And after second check. Yes he is an open red, BRTD and Marxism would love this nut.
