opebo was a hell of a lot more amusing and funny than Mallard Fillmore, and offered more intelligent political insight too.

Mallard Filmore is one of the most consistently unfunny comic strips.  It's like newspapers carry it just to "balance" it with Doonesbury.  Please, enough of this forced "objectivity" giving a platform to poor content.

True, it's not especially hilarious, but at least it has a vaguely captivating story line from time to time.  In the sense that it's sort of fun to spend an hour or two reading a years' worth of strips.  But I'd have to agree that if you opened the newspaper and read it for the first time on any given day, it would usually be almost as underwhelming as Mallard Filmore.
