http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus

In German-speaking Alpine folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure. According to traditional narratives around the figure, Krampus punishes children during the Christmas season who had misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas, who rewards well-behaved ones with gifts.

No and I won't, no matter what Tender Branson says to justify traumatizing children.

Yes, I have always and will always
Though, to be fair, the Krampus has not necessarily something to do with Christmas, more with Saint Nikolaus, which is is its own proper fest.

OMG.... is Tender Branson the KRAMPUS?

That may actually very well be, usually are young men of the village dress up as Krampuse...

No and I won't, no matter what Tender Branson says to justify traumatizing children.

No kid is traumatized by this, since they grow up with this stuff.

At least they are not more traumatized than the average American kid that has to watch 5000 TV reports about murder cases on the evening news or whose parents take them to the shooting range to fire machine guns ...

If you'd actually understand what this is all about, you'd probably like these festivities (as do so many tourists).

Nah.  If I were adopt some foreign Christmas custom, I'd pick Iceland's Yule Cat.  If nothing else, it would give Santa a reason to give kids practical gifts of clothing as well as his traditional toys.

I fully endorse any attempts to merge Christmas with Halloween. Krampus is a great and honourable tradition!

No, although I would imagine that I'm Krampus for many people on here.

Dude, this is a postcard from 100 years ago !

As if any person dressed up as Krampus would hit small kids ... Roll Eyes

I think more kids are traumatized by getting their foreskin cut off than watching a Krampus.

That's exactly what a kid-abusing Krampus would say.

We cannot rule out that these ancient postcards/pictures were made (in part) by Krampus-haters.

These pictures have not much to do with reality.

No, I have never been a Krampus myself, because I'm not good at carving the wooded masks nor do I have any sheep-clothing.

But I have been to some runs and know some people who dress(ed) up as one, incl. my neighbour.

Or these postcards are early evidences of the Krampus crowd depravity.

I don't think it's Krampus at all.  To me, it looks like it might be 15 year old Korean actress Kim You-Jung.  Looks like you've been fooled again, Tender!

Did he ever get death points for that 15 year old girl photo?  He should be banned, but death points is ok too.

It's extremely very disturbing that all of Krampus' victims are under 18.

Another reason for Kim You-Jung to avoid Austria!  Tongue
