why aren't projectile fireworks allowed in my state?  Are people offended by pretty colors bursting in the air?  Does anyone here find this as insane as I do?  Do any of your states have laws against it too?  If I want to set off fireworks and risk having my hands blown off, then why am I not allowed to take that risk?
I mean, I have some for the 4th I bought in South Carolina anyways, but that's beside the point.

I'm not very educated about fireworks. Could they hurt someone else?

well, yeah, I mean they are explosives.  But, my point is more or less how come the projectile ones are illegal here?  I mean you can still get some serious burns with the fountains.  And there's really no way to enforce these laws because everyone who wants fireworks drives to Ohio anyways.

In Germany the sale of fireworks, and not just projectiles, is illegal except for the week after Christmas.

Because of the conservatives.

In Kentucky the laws used to be pretty much ignored and not enforced. Now they throw people in jail.

They're illegal because they're dangerous when handled by those who are untrained.  The user could blow his hand off, and others in the vicinity could also be hurt or even killed, if the fireworks aren't handled correctly.

Come to think of it, the same could be said about guns....Smiley

Ok speaking from experience eventualy you get tired of just pretty colors. After a while you grab the rubberbands and start tying massive bundles together. Thats when they can get dangerous. Have you ever seen a roll of black cats wrapped around 20 bottle rockets fired at a more horizontal than vertical path? Seeing it might change your mind on how dangerous they can be..... By the way, they are illegial in city limits here too but we drive out of town to but them at stands all over the interstates.

What a dumb law.  I mean, guns are OK in Michigan, but fireworks are a big no-no?  At least fireworks are more interesting to look at than a deer getting shot.

Last Fourth of July, fireworks were illegal to be sold. Up here, every summer, it gets very hot. It's a dry heat. So all the wilderness doesn't get a great deal of water. Thus fireworks are more likely to start a major forest fire.

Ah.  The first logical explanation for this bill.  But I wonder what other states have considered such a law based on this reasoning?
