Petition Against The Civil Rights Act of 2014

I'm concerned however for your right to speak out on cultural issues. There is a bill being discussed in the senate right now that could very well take those rights away. The Civil Rights Act of 2014. If passed it would outlaw simple speech like pastors and religious leaders teaching publicly what their faiths teach regarding sensitive moral issues. Pro-life activists would not be allowed a voice because the law would allow late term abortions on demand and arrest and suppress the rights of pro-life Atlasians and Atlasians of faith like myself and many of you who speak out against such practices. This bill would outlaw speech in churches and houses of worship that calls certain lifestyle choices as contrary to their teachings. Meaning pastors and layleaders could be arrested for speaking on behalf of the traditional family. Atlasia was founded on the principle that all have a voice. This law would eliminate that. Even for those we disagree with.  Who will stand with me? If you do sign here

Other than the first bit that lets African-Americans secede for some reason, it seems very reasonable. I applaud TNF's war on bigots, and I hope he gives them a good spanking, legislatively speaking of course.

Nix hit the nail on the head regarding the danger this bill poses to freedom of speech (especially given how subjective terms like "sexist" or "xenophobic" in the sense that when this law is and isn't enforced would depend entirely on the individuals who decide what is and isn't racist/sexist/xenophobic/homophobic/etc).  

Additionally, while I sympathize with the parts about financial reparations for Indians and African-Atlasians, these sections are extremely impractical at best.  It's always possible that I am misunderstanding the system of reparations described in the bill, but I'm pretty sure we'll bankrupt the country if we try to do financial reparations for either of these groups, let alone both.  

Furthermore, I suspect some of our treaty obligations to the Indians contradict each other and I'm pretty sure honoring many of them would entail giving away much of the country or bankrupting ourselves buying back land we already own (which, in addition to being even more impractical than financial reparations, sounds like some crazy Internet Leftist fantasy/thought experiment like when certain people have either legalized or tried to legalize crap like incest, polygamy, bestiality, the use of hard drugs, nationalizing as many industries as possible, and lowering the age of consent to 12 or 14).

That said, there are several non-objectionable provisions of the legislation (Section 2, Clause 9, for example, as well as much of Section 3, parts of Section 4, and Section 6). I'm certain that those good elements can be extracted and formulated into a proposal that will pass.
