Well, good to know that Bushie takes criticism as maturely in real life as he does on the internet.

I know my field demands perfection and he needs to point out the mistakes, but he doesn't need to make me feel small over said errors.

Your pride will always be your downfall, my man.

He's not trying to make you feel small (well he might be, but that won't be the main reason) he's trying to get you to improve. Because you'll be fired unless you do. Never forget that teaching involves pointing out errors; it isn't personal, it's practical. You're a novice. You need training up. So would anyone else. So pay attention when you're told you've done something wrong; he's actually doing you a favour.

Listen, guys, I learn to live with it.  I know good and well he's just doing his job.  Nobody needs to look into it further than that, nor do they need to condemn me for looking at it differently.

Again, I know he's doing his job.   I'm fine with it.  Everybody has to take my word that I am learning from my mistakes and correcting them.

I'm not thinking about it now.  So, there is nothing that requires a page or two of useless discussion.

Did no one tell you that when it comes to technical drawing (i.e. the trade by which you currently earn you daily bread) precision is the thing? Of course the assistant lead drafter gets at you for "every little mistake" you make. If he didn't he'd be negligent and would deserve to be fired. Mistakes in that business cost money and damage reputations. I point this out because businesses are not charities (even if some charities are businesses) which means that if you do not cease to make 'little mistakes' you will certainly be fired.

Indeed, it shows he's diligent in his job.

Like I said, I know and respect that he's doing his job and takes his job seriously and I know he is taking my job seriously.  If I really take a step back, I can take pride that he's so hard on me because it means he sees so much potential in me and my abilities.  I can also take comfort in that my boss, the guy whose opinion matters, is pleased with my quality of work.  I feel good about my progress and indeed I am thankful that someone actually cares enough for my contribution to the team to be hard on me.  It may be uncomfortable, but a lot of growing is uncomfortable.  You can call them growing pains.  He is helping to mold me into a great drafter who can take on a big role in a big company one day.

Not just that... it's not just about you. There is a chain of responsibility - he's making sure that those at the bottom of the process do not send work up the chain that is flawed.

We'd better prepare for another one of these:

What am I supposed to do?  Agree with him on something that is blatantly not true?  Since when is defending yourself against false accusation that he just concocted not taking criticism well?  I take criticism very well, but I just don't like being falsely accused.

How about accepting that you still need a lot of work on your skills. Most people would kill for the opportunity to have someone working with you - and constructive criticism is a big part of building skills. It just so happens that Bushie considers all criticism as a personal attack.

"But why aren't you encouraging me?!!"

The one where you pridefully brushed off Assistant Lead Drafter's criticism because the boss likes you? Probably because ALD gets all your mistakes fixed before the boss actually sees it? I assume he did, considering his response.

Guess what, bub, when the boss is deciding what temps to extend, he's not going to go by his own decision. He's going to ask the Assistant Lead Drafter to rank the temps and unless you take his criticism constructively, you are done.

I am taking his criticism constructively.  Nobody sees that on this forum, but it's true.  I have said several times that I learn from and fix my mistakes, not the ALD.  That's the truth.  Nobody has read that.
