Why did Moderate Robert J. Healey do so well in Rhode Island.
Btw: Is "Moderate" the name of his party?

Ken Block, who ran in 2010 under the Moderate Party, did well too. They are a semi-strong local party.

Dunno about him personally, but:

Swing Voters and Elastic States

Rhode Island has the most genuine independents of any state. Lots of people who like moderates.
