just a hypothetcal situation.  If I was a big government tax and spend liberal, I'd probably support both.  It would definitely solve Michigan's fiscal problems since we are one of the states with the highest obesity rates.

No, but I would support a "Milk_and_cereal tax": you have to pay the government all of your money if your online screen name is "Milk_and_cereal".

I must admit I'm very surprised that he'd support this, aren't you?  A libertarian wanting the government to tax people based on their definition of "ugly."  That's a new one.

Also, where do you draw the line at obesity?  If I'm one inch over the limit, do I have to fork over extra cash to the government?  (Not that I'm obese.  I'm more worried about my uncle.)

Where did you get the idea he supports it?

yeah I said IF, and it's a big if.  I never said I support it.  I just think it would be a funny issue for people like opebo and bandit to debate.

I'm sure they wouldn't support it because they value their money. Cheesy

(Bad joke, I know.)

Ah, you're right, just an if.  Well, still.  Where would we draw the line at obesity?

obesity would be based upon BMI(body mass index).  There's a mathematical formula for figuring what your weight should be in proportion to your height.  Ugliness would be a lot more difficult.  You'd probably need to go in front of a panel and testify your beauty.

I understand the obesity tax, but what is the theory behind the tax on ugly people?  If anything, ugly people should be taxed less, since they are likely to make less money and there is not a lot they can do about it.

I voted "no" to both.

But on second thought, a tax on fat people doesn't seem like such a bad thing.  First, I'd be entitled to a tax refund, because my BMI is now only in the 9th percentile, even after a bigger than usual winter weight gain.  (I used to be in the 2nd-5th percentile.)  The tax refund would compensate me for the extra work and cost of shopping for pants and belts in a world where clothing designers expect men to be the size of a Lincoln Town Car.  Second, more people would take action to avoid getting fat.  This means I wouldn't be such an anomaly, and my size would be so much easier to find in stores.
