In Spearfish on April 30th, the SDDP welcomes Ed Schultz, the dynamic host of radio’s "Straight Talk from the Heartland” (www.wegoted.com). Broadcasting from Fargo, ND, “The Ed Schultz Show” made its debut on January 5, 2004, and is now heard on more than 80 affiliate stations, along with both XM and Sirius satellite radio.

“Ed Schultz’s potential to shape the political landscape cannot be overstated,” said Judy Olson Duhamel, SDDP Chairwoman. “His views and genuine interest in people’s lives and their voices makes him the standard bearer for progressive talk radio.”

Ed’s pull-no-punches, progressive and informed personality has elevated him to the top of his game. In his first year of national syndication, Ed Schultz went from two stations to 70. Ed has won numerous awards including "The Marconi" (News/Talk/Sports Station of the Year), "The Peabody," and two "Eric Sevareid" Awards (First place Talk/Large Market). His show broadcasts daily in major markets including San Francisco, Boston, Detroit, Seattle, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Miami, Denver, Washington, D.C. and many others. Ed Schultz’s first book, "Straight Talk from the Heartland," was published by Regan Books in 2004.

Other luminaries planning to attend include former South Dakota Senator, Democratic Presidential Nominee, and event namesake, George McGovern. In addition, former Senator Tom Daschle, Senator Tim Johnson and Representative Stephanie Herseth will be featured at the gala. This is the fourth annual McGovern Day, previously known as Jefferson/Jackson Day, and the largest annual fundraiser for the SDDP
