DU will never ban you, since liberals love open dialogue, and if they banned people for disagreeing with them, they could never again claim to be for open dialogue

It just goes to show you how warped the Democrats are.  Not representative of a large group of people?  They have 68,000 users!

Define "large".  According to exit polls, if I recall correctly, 20% of Americans define themselves as "liberal" and around 37% of Americans define themselves as "Democrat".  Regardless of whether you trust exit polls or not, the numbers have to be at least around 10-20% and 30-40%.  Given that the current population of America is 293,027,571, that means there are 29,302,757 - 58,605,514 liberals and 87,908,271 - 117,211,028 Democrats.  In other words, Democratic Underground, if every single member is American, accounts for roughly 0.2-0.1% of liberals and 0.07-0.05% of Democrats.

Real representative.

Obviously, not everyone who thinks like this is on DU.  But since they have one of, if not the, largest memberships of any political board, its fairly representative of the Deaniac Dems.

Does anyone believe that a rational group of people would ban me for that?
yes you deserve it John D. Fart.  Your a repuke like the chimperor and alan greenslime.

JJ?  Is that you?

No, I refer to you as John D. False, but only after you attack me.

Yes, sadly communists have badly infiltrated the Democratic party. We really need another patriot like McCarthy to clean the country of the filth that is in it. Starting with Barbara Boxer and her ilk.

There are no 'communists' among the elected Democratic Party, and only a minute number among the voting base.  However the Republican Party is almost entirely made up of religious, a group that has a real possibility of taking over the country and destroying freedom.

I've given up on them, though this might inspire me to go back. They just lack what makes the Atlas so great:
Checks and Balances
You can say virtually anything on there, and no one will catch you on it. Here, if I say Hillary Clinton can win 370 EV's, there's someone to politely tell me how stupid I am. You don't get that there. I just don't think they are that smart.

My first post there in a month is a response to a "Boxer in '08" thread. She was getting some good support on that thread.

If these people ever got their way...

Obviously I support "California Man"s right to free speech, but you guys have to understand that DU is not for conservatives, just liberals.  If they wanted conservatives, they wouldn't call it Conservative Underground.

Nick, I think you're tragically wrong on social security.  Quibble over assumptions all you want, but the ratio of workers to retirees is falling on a continual basis.

Once you're working a while, you may see things differently.  You will be carrying a huge tax burden to pay for a program that is headed for collapse.

Social security as it currently stands is breaking faith with the young people of this country.  Groups like AARP want to keep it as it is because they don't care about the future.  Young people should.

People over 55 won't be affected by Bush's current plan. It's the young people who would be affected. They would have large benefit cuts. If we eliminated the $90,000 payroll cap, and reduced benefits for the wealthy, then everyone (non-rich) could get full benefits even in 2075 or whatever.

Given that Fidel Castro won a poll against Bush with something like 96% of the vote, I really doubt Democratic Underground can be taken as representative of, well, pretty much anything that has a substantial number of members.

McCain would have beated Castro. People hate Bush for good reasons.

BTW, there's a lot of different kinds of posters on DU. Some aren't that careful with the facts (some of those guys got mad at me when I said the probability of exit polls being a certain way was like 1 in 20 million and not 500 million). Other's aren't really liberal at all.

How long would it be until I get banned on DU as a Santorum-Toomey Republican? Smiley  (that is, assuming I became a member which I'd never do)

Simply saying something like "I love Rick Santorum" even once is grounds for a banning.

also, you complaining conservatives are missing the point of DU.

What's the point then, oh great one?  I hadn't said anything that was innaccurate, or for that matter said anything that Bill Clinton would disagree with in principle.  It seems that the point of DU is to allow psychopaths to bitch about how Ohio was stolen, and that we need not count the votes because we have exit polls for that sh**t.

It's a place for only liberals to converse, just like FR is for conservatives. If you want debate there are loads of other boards you can go to. DU is still full of debate though.

That poster has a link in his sig that goes to a page describind Cuban communism as a "humane, socialist system".  Thanks for proving our point.

Its no different than the debate on Al Jazeera, where everyone agrees, America is evil.  The debate is over how evil at DU.

You must project yourself as a different person on DU to avoid getting banned.  BRTD would fit in very well on DU, though he's probably considered a bit to the right among that group of nincompoops.

I dont project myself as someone different.  I speak out against partial birth abortion, radical liberal candidates, the boogey man aka diebold, republicans being the devil,  etc.  I guess Im the rare exception.
