As others have pointed out, as we're past the deadline, a candidate who would drop out would remain on the ballot.

That's fine. Dems wanted Kendrick Meek to drop out in 2010 even though he would've stayed on the ballot. It at least presents a shot, whereas neither of Weiland/Pressler have a chance in a three way race.

They should have Pressler publicly endorse Weiland in exchange for something down the road (governor when Daugaard retires?)

Considering Noem's habit of underperforming, Weiland might be a good candidate against her in 2016.
