What kind of Christian are you?

http://www.beliefnet.com/section/quiz/index.asp?sectionID=10002&surveyID=83

i'm not exactly a Christian, but here is my score:

119

(60-149) You are a Bishop Spong Christian (a.k.a. "Biblical Revisionist").

You think the Bible is a powerful metaphorical narrative and believe that Jesus was a heroic figure similar to Gandhi. You believe in God as a loving creator and that She will forgive you for just about anything. You're willing to admit that you don't believe in the resurrection. You go to church for the sense of community and the music and because you like to hector your fellow Christians about their backward ways. You read Toni Morrison, Elaine Pagels, and Bishop Spong, the controversial Episcopalian prelate. You enjoyed the "The Da Vinci Code" as a thriller and found its ideas about Christian history thought-provoking, if not always historically accurate. Though you probably didn't see it, you're sure that "The Passion of the Christ" presented an utterly backward version of Christianity. You ardently support gay rights and feel guilty that you yourself are not gay. (If you are gay, you're in a loving, committed relationship). You live in a leafy university town, order Chai at the local coffee house (never Starbucks), and subscribe to The New Yorker. You watch TV so you can talk disdainfully about how bad TV is. You give to charity, preferring the local homeless shelter to those bureaucratic national charities. For you, the crux of Christianity is Jesus' revolutionary message of empowering "the least of these."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

with some exceptions, this description is more or less accurate.....and i am fond of the Da Vinci Code, as well as the Lord of the Rings with all its magic and wonder.

BTW, who the hell is Bishop Spong?!

Wow, I actually got a 71. When I wasn't really sure, I just choose a funny answer, though.

394/400.  As with all online quizzes, this has serious flaws.  I am certainly not a Jerry Falwell Christian in the sense that I am not a self-righteous pompous fascist anti-Semetic jerk.  It also didn't touch on any issues besides the events described in the four Gospels; i.e. sixty-two books from the Bible were pretty much ignored.  The test is designed to make you think you are a "Revisionist Christian" in the sense of John Shelby Spong (notice the banners for his column at the top of each page?), but it clearly backfired -- pretty embarrasingly -- on me.

I'm actually a very liberal Christian, however I take the Gospels literally.

Spong is an Episcopalian bishop who's written a few books on some of his controversial theories on Biblical accounts. I think he denies the resurrection for instance.

I got a 202. So apparentely I'm a "Hillary Rodham Clinton Christian (a.k.a. "Left-Leaning Traditionalist")"

George Bush Sr. Christian
(a.k.a. "Right-Leaning Traditionalist")
You view the Bible as divinely inspired, believe Jesus was the Son of God, but don't think Jonah was swallowed by a whale. You go to church once a month and believe ardently that everyone should go weekly. You admire Pope John Paul II and Billy Graham, read Tom Clancy and William Bennett, enjoy Bach and Bacharach, watch college football, drive an SUV, and live in a suburb. You drink Coors, in moderation. You found many scenes in "The Da Vinci Code" exciting, but the book disturbed you--all that stuff about the Holy Grail couldn't be true, right? You were very moved by "The Passion of the Christ" but thought seeing it once was enough. Your attitude toward gays (You view it as a sign of your tolerance that you no longer call them "homosexuals") is "love the sinner but hate the sin." You think most of popular culture is polluted and prefer to watch shows like "Joan of Arcadia" and "Seventh Heaven" but secretly also enjoy watching “The Sopranos.” You give to the United Way and your local church, and especially admire Habitat for Humanity. For you, Christianity is not only about how Jesus lived, but also about how he died for our sins and how we can have a relationship with him now.

250's

It is actually not a good description of me.

Definitely the guy who designed this quiz was more interested in humor than gravity.

Anyway, it says I’m a Hillary Rodham Clinton Christian (a.k.a. "Left-Leaning Traditionalist").

Some of the other questions really bugged me since they had no answer that summed up my view too well. For about half of them I wanted a "I don't know but whether this was literally accurate or not isn't important to me" answer

here's the description they have of my category. The accurate parts are in bold:

eh, probably better than the other descriptions they have up.

I'm not a Christian, but I took the test because I was bored. The results pissed me off:

"You think the Bible is divinely inspired, and you say Jesus was the Son of God (but secretly aren't so sure). You go to church when you can squeeze it in between soccer games, brunch, and "Meet the Press.” You admire Martin Luther King Jr., Dorothy Day, Bill Moyers, and the Dalai Lama; and have read Kathleen Norris' "Cloister Walk" and "Conversations With God." While watching "The Passion of the Christ," you cried during the flashback when toddler Jesus fell and Mary ran to him, but many other parts of the movie bothered you. You eat boneless chicken breasts, organic produce, and designer ice cream. You talk a lot about the value of community but can't quite remember the name of the guy two houses down. You ardently support gay rights even though you don't really want to think about what those people do. You believe the surrounding culture is polluted and blame it on big corporations. You give to charity but are more likely to help the Sierra Club than your church. The power of Christianity for you is the sense of community and the emphasis on love, forgiveness, and helping the less-fortunate."

Damn it. That sounds like the kind of latte liberal I despise. None of that describes me. That test is BS.

I have very little in common with Jerry Falwell.  I highly resent the comparison!

I don’t go around blaming homosexuals for the death of Americans on 9/11.  Falwell is a false prophet and should be ignored.

Oh, I got Falwell mixed up with Pat Robertson.

The thing is I agree with them 80% of the time, but the other 20% of the time I feel that they are being complete fools!

In general I agree with Robertson but he certainly has some loony ideas. That's when I turn it off. Theologically he is right a lot of the time however but his views on the modern day world are less to be desired. I really like Billy Graham though.
