There are certainly good arguments that can be made in favor of a ban and it's much more possible now than it would have been just a couple of years ago.  Certainly parents and students should be more aware of the risks involved.  I can't say me personally would favor a ban, but I wouldn't argue too hard against it.

I enjoyed playing football, but at some point, you have to question the progress made by an amateur sport that inflicts hundreds of avoidable injuries on the participants. It's the only sport in the US where playing properly guarantees injury. In every other sport, injuries are usually a fluke.

Furthermore, when I played, healthcare was still affordable. I blanch at the thought of covering football-related medical bills for today's youth. However, I would also hate to lose a major part of American culture.

The middle schools around here don't play tackle anymore, but the "little leagues" do from a sickeningly young age.

I honestly thought this place would be more open to the idea of a ban.  I've heard national sports talk guys (can't remember who now, but I heard it just in the past couple of weeks) suggest it should be banned for minors.

If I played tackle football, I'd be hurt. I am really tall (always was the tallest) and thin. In fact, I did play once in eight grade and my friend Matt (the second tallest and strongest kid in the class) knocked me upside down, three feet in the air. It hurt like a b*tch, but I got up, spit the dirt out of my mouth, and smiled, because I wanted to play.

In a nutshell, if you can't stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen.

     This was my thought. Kids shouldn't be tackling in Pop Warner, but I see nothing wrong with letting teenagers tackle each other in high school.
