Yes, he would have tried at least. Until 2009 he considered Romneycare to be his greatest and proudest achievement.

No way.  No Republican would try to fix the healthcare system, it's too difficult.  Romneycare was a creature of having huge Democratic majorities to push everything through.

And, why would Republicans even care about healthcare?

To stop it from being an issue that benefit the Democrats if nothing else.  It's not like there weren't some major healthcare legislation under W.

You mean the Give money to insurance and pharmaceutical companies and Win Florida in 2004 Act of 2003?  Republicans might want to rewrite our laws to be more favorable to insurance and pharmaceuticals; they're not going to be interested in improving healthcare in this country.

If the only beneficiaries were insurance and pharmaceutical companies why have Democrats never attempted a full repeal? Surely there's no reason to worry about the senior vote from such a thing?

The Democrats are influenced by the power of lobbyists and money in Washington.  They're just  not as bad as Republicans.

Right, I'm sure seniors won't mind at all when their prescription drug benefit and medicare advantage plans are taken away. There's a surefire election winner for the Democrats.

Less coverage is not a consequence of spending less money, unless you don't know what the hell you are doing.
