I voted 'the religious right' in this poll since opebo is only intolerant of one group of people (Christians). The religious right is intolerant of everyone who is different from them in some way.

The religious right is an extremely large and diverse group. Some are more intolerant than opebo, but most aren't.

I would agree that it is a diverse group. (BTW, how would you define the RR?) I was answering based on the average member of the RR.

Well, it's a hard group to define. I mean, I know members of the religious right who are perfectly fine with the idea of gay marriage. It's a very diverse group, as I said. Well, uhm, they are religious, and they are right-wing politically. I don't really know what other definition I could really give.

Kind of interesting that the map that opebo pulled up doesn't even include the UP of Michigan on it (where I live). Haha.

The West Coast and Tennessee also surprise me.

Another surprising state from the map is Colorado, given how religious right-dominated Colorado Springs is.

I doubt the map is very accurate. Probably more bigotted then anything else. What's the link to the site Opebo?

I'm sorry, but I have to bring this up quickly:

THEY are.  And besides, I'm not running the country, they are!

Interesting map, but...the religious right does not strongly control the Utah Republican Party? The religious right strongly controls Utah!

Several other states, like Mississippi, make little sense to me.

The religious right on the whole is far more tolerant than opebo.
Yes, however I voted "the religious right" by mistake -- guess I thought I was voting for the more tolerant, not intolerant.

I think it is from Mother Jones.  I am sure it greatly underestimates the influence of the religious right.  Here is my map - blue denotes GOP dominated by the Religious Right, grey - not dominated by R.R.:

Now for the Democrats, only a few state parties dominated by religious:

Hawaii? Are you nuts?

By the way, what do you think of Senators Sununu and Gregg?

I have to admit I forgot to change Hawaii.

I don't know much about Sununu and Gregg but I do dislike them for being members of the Religious Party.

The Republican Party of California is dominated by the Religious Right.  That's all that map is about.
