A PROCLAMATION

It is unfortunate that our ascent to the throne would have come through such a tragic circumstance, but in times of rebellion such as this we are compelled to contain our mourning as to singularly focus ourselves on the task required of us. Let the fate of King Stannis, Queen Selyse, and their loyal retainers at the hand of the curséd magic of the Red Witch serve as as reminder to all in these Seven Kingdoms that straying from the path of the Seven-Pointed Star has its consequences.  But also let it be known that our brother, King Stannis, fought and died to preserve the legacy of our brother, King Robert, on returning peace and prosperity to a land ravaged by the tyranny of a mad king.

Daenerys Stormborn--a foreign woman of a foreign house ruling over foreign lands-- has come to our land under the pretense that she intends taking what is hers by right of her blood. To that, we say that is the right of dominion over these lands effected by mere blood, no matter how inbred or alien? We sit on this throne by right of not the blood of the House of Baratheon alone, but by the legacy and memory of our valiant brothers. And what of the legacy of the Targaryens? It is a legacy of mindless and insane murder, rape, apostasy, incest, brutality, and all crimes imaginable in the eyes of gods and men.

Daenerys Stormborn now comes proclaiming herself a breaker of chains and a bringer of justice, but does anyone believe that the madness of her house does not run in her veins just the same? This woman, kinslayer of her own brother, burning him by having molten gold poured on his head-- just as Aegon the Second burnt his own sister to death to feed her to his dragon-- seeks to deceive these lands into thinking she is somehow different from the very ancestors from whom she claims her so-called right to the throne. Many have let themselves be deceived. But it is clear to all what this woman represents-- a return to chaos, brutality, madness, insanity.

We call upon all in the Seven Kingdoms-- princes, lords, knights, and even smallfolk-- to come to the service of the realm to throw this mad woman back into the sea and to restore the legacy of the House Baratheon--  that of peace, prosperity, and piety. We, King Renly, urge those who have found themselves serving, in one capacity or another, the foreign pretender to seek out those who are serving our throne and render their fealty and services. We make special consideration of those who served Lord Randyll Tarly, brutally murdered at the behest of the honourless Willas Tyrell, to reject such criminal acts and come to the defense of the realm. We know that those lords and knights who followed our brother, King Stannis, as their personal suzerain, shall continue to serve his House and his Heir, ourself, paying no heed to the empty proclamations of the Stormborn woman.

Let it be known that we are willing to pay any price, including our life, to maintain the realm and to rid it of all those who seek to subvert and weaken it and our rule, so we swear before the Seven-Faced God and the Seven Heavens and Seven Hells.
