A proclaim

"I, Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, Lord of Winterfell and King in the North, hereby relieve the hostage Theon Greyjoy from his captivity. He is henceforth a free man. A ship shall be chartered to escort Lord Theon back to his native lands of Pyke, if he so desires."

A raven to Brandon Stark, Acting Lord of Winterfell

"My Brother,

I am well aware of the difficulties that you and my Northern homeland are presently enduring. Rest assured that I will not abandon you. I am doing anything in my power to end the needless bloodshed, and am hopeful that my efforts will soon be repaid. If necessary, part of our contingent is ready to intervene in defense of our native lands. At the same time, I hope that you will understand why my place is still here on the frontline, so far from home. Our victory is the only condition under which Winterfell and the whole North could recover their peace and serenity. You are understandably strained by the daunting task of managing the region's daily affairs, but you are a Stark, and as such I have no doubt about your ability to fulfill this task with dignity and wisdom. I shall soon return to Winterfell victorious, and the Starks, vindicated in their honor, will be reunited once again.

-- Robb"

Did Myrcella's ship leave the Blackwater Bay before the blockade and is she on the way to Dorne, or is she still in Kings Landing?

Probably, but hopefully Dorne can help fight Renly/Mace!

As I said, Dorne's army needs to be prepared before fighting anyone. I hope that Princess Myrcella is on her way to Dorne though, as my little boy Trystane can't await her!

A raven to King Stannis Baratheon:

"King Stannis,
I kindly ask Your Grace to let the ship carrying Princess Myrcella Baratheon to Sunspear free passage through Blackwater Bay. Myrcella is bethrothed to my son, Prince Trystane; and I ask you as a father to finally let the two meet! The gratidude of Dorne will await Your Grace!

Prince Doran Martell, Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear"

OOC: Sorry for the verbal abuse, Dr. Cynic, it comes with the character Tongue  Feel free to include any Tyrionesque quips in your responses if you wish Wink

IC: A raven to my son, Tyrion Lannister:

"Since it seems you have failed thus far to halt the advance of Robert's treasonous brothers, my ravens have been extremely busy.  So should yours, hopefully you've made good use of the time you've had.  If you can be bothered to halt your drunken debochury long enough to start acting like a Lannister for a change, we should be able to pull off a victory.  If you can only hold off one rebel army, make it Renly's.  I trust you have already taken measures to prevent Stannis from landing.  If you can at least prevent that much and hold off Renly's forces long enough for reinforcements to arrive, then the threat to Kings Landing should be temporarily neutralized.  Is there any news from Dorne or the Vale?

We must also act to exploit the rumors about King Joffrey's Uncles.  Stannis has spread repulsive lies about the King, as well as your brother and sister and should be paid in his own coin.  Send a raven to every Lord telling them that Stannis' daughter was fathered by his court fool.  The ravens to all the Lords in the Reach, should also inform them of the reason that everyone in King's Landing knows Renly will never leave any heirs.  Renly's perversions are the worst kept secret in Kings Landing and should give the Tyrells pause.  Obviously omit any rumors that might directly insult the Tyrells.  If you defend Kings Landing half as well as your brother Jaime would have, you just might save your sister and nephew instead of killing them like you did your mother."

Military Update:

The Sack of the Riverlands:

The Riverlands had suffered a lot thanks to Gregor Clegane and the onslaught of the Lannister Armies, but these months were the worst the region had seen in decades. Vargo Hoat and his brave companions set out from Harrenhal and began a reign of terror across the southern Riverlands, sacking, killing, raping and burning everything they found. With the Riverlords in Riverrun unable to move thanks to King Robb, the region kept being burnt to the ground, flooding the roads with refugees facing constant killing at the hands of Vargo Hoat and his men. Hundreds of civilians have died, and more are expected to do so as things keep going worse for the region.

Trouble in King's Landing:

Despite Acting Hand Tyrion Lannister's best efforts to keep King's Landing under control, the situation keeps growing dire. Tyrell and Baratheon forces sacked the Gold Road, blocking the Westerlands from the capital while Stannis Baratheon's fleet closed the Blackwater Bay to any vessels, leaving the weak Royal Fleet trapped inside the city and cutting off any chance of getting supplied by sea. Lord Tyrion managed to bolster the defenses by calling the Crownlander banners and increasing the number of Gold Cloaks, but he has the problem of feeding those forces now that the people in the city are starting to lack things to eat. And if that weren't enough, he just lost two of his most valuable hostages: the twins Horas and Hobber Redwyne hired a Pentoshi galley, the Moonrunner, which they used to narrowly avoid the protection asigned to them to sail away and join with Tyrell agents in the Kingswood. As the twins prepare to return to the Arbor, Lord Redwyne's fleet is now unblocked.

The Battle of the Red Fork:

With King Robb ordering most of his forces to remain in Riverrun, the only troops that were more or less separated were Brynden Tully's 2,000 strong cavarly force in the Trident, keeping a careful eye on Tywin Lannister. Sensing a chace for an easy victory, Lord Tywin sent Ser Addam Marbrand and 7,000 men to take the Blackfish out and seize the initative again. The Blackfish knew that sooner or later he was going to be attacked, but he was surprised by the strenght and speed of Marbrand as a commander. Thus, both armies met near the Red Fork, with the Riverlanders mounting a desperate defense against Marbrand and his men. Just as the tide was turning against the Blackfish, reinforcements appeared commanded by Lord Bracken, who was sent with 4,000 by King Robb just in case Tywin attacked the Blackfish. Still, Ser Addam was not willing to back down and continued to press the assault, despite knowing that the numbers were too similar to force a complete victory. In the end, both armies faced a stalemate, but the Blackfish and Bracken chose to cede the ground and withdraw to Riverrun. Ser Addam considered pushing ahead, but having taken heavy losses he returned to Harrenhal. Tywin Lannister took most of his forces and left the fortress, leaving Marbrand to rest his forces and hold the castle. In the end, the Tullys lost 500 men and Marbrand lost 1,000.

Tyrell Westerlander/Riverlander Campaign:

Instead of marching right away to King's Landing, Mace Tyrell chose to destroy Tywin Lannister's base of support first in order to make things easier for his side. Ser Garlan Tyrell and about 5,000 men invaded the Westerlands from the coast, besieging Crakehall and preparing to take the fortress as soon as the order was given. Tyrell sent some of his forces with Lord Hightower to meet with Baratheon troops near the Gold Road in Tumbleton (who started raiding the road and capturing supplies, weapons and gold sent by the Lannisters), while he and Randyll Tarly took the bulk of the Tyrell Army (nothing less than 33,000 men) to cut Tywin's supply lines to his home. Entering the Riverlands, Lord Tarly hanged a good number of Lannister men sacking the fields, and let his scouts to retake the Stony Sept, freeing a good number of Stark soldiers who were being starved to death. With this, the Westerlands is now isolated from the Crownlands and Harrenhal.

Siege of the Golden Tooth:

Knowing that there was an option to finally invade the Westerlands, King Robb assembled a force of 4,000 Northerners and 3,000 Riverlanders on the command of Theon Greyjoy (a move that many worried about) and sent them to take the Golden Tooth and destroy its 3,000 strong garrison. Theon started his siege and looked for alternate roads, but couldn't find any. With Ser Stafford Lannister's departure to Essos as an envoy, Ser Daven Lannister took command of the 10,000 strong army of the Westerlands and marched on the Golden Tooth, having a combined army of 13,000 men (most of them still inexpert recruits) to face off against Theon. It was then than Rickard Karstark and his 2,000 men arrived to take the command of the besieging force. Theon Greyjoy was set to leave for Riverrun the following day, but as he retreated to his tent a number of Northern soldiers ambushed him and brutally stabbed him to death in a reprisal for the Greyjoy invasion of the North. Lord Karstark concluded that finding the culprits would take too much time, and he prepared to continue to siege.

Asha Greyjoy's Invasion of the North:

Crowning himself as King of the Iron Isles, Balon Greyjoy wasted no time in using some of the forces he had assembled in Pyke to strike against his enemies. Choosing the North as his target, he commanded Asha Greyjoy to take 5,000 men and 200 ships from the Reaving Fleet and instructed her to start the raid. Asha wasted no time, and her first raid against Flint's Finger was a complete sucess, drowning a good number of men from House Flint. The second raid, much more daring, was the raid on the city of Barrowton and her confrontation with House Dustin, with Lady Barbrey mounting a good defense. Thanks to last minute help from Galbert Glover and 1,000 Northerners sent to the North to prevent a Greyjoy attack, Asha was soundly defeated at Barrowton, losing a few hundred men. Knowing that Glover would take his time to go further North, Asha licked her wounds and struck again at Deepwood Motte, taking the Glovers as prisioners but choosing not hold the castle for the time being. Finally, Asha launched her men against Bear Island, capturing several Mormonts and turning the isle as a Greyjoy base, commanded by Harmund Sharp and a garrison of a 1,000 men. Having lost more than 600 men on her raids, Asha stands ready with her ships and 3,400 Ironborn for further attacks.

The Karhold is far from the Sunset Sea. Lord Karstark is a fortunate man because of this. Rest assured that the Ironborn will not forget this injury.

Robb's speech to his armies

"Northerners! Is that who we are? Murderers, turning against our brothers in arms while the war rages? Is that all what's left of the honor and loyalty that made our country strong for the past eight thousand years? Under my command, Theon Greyjoy was bravely leading the assault on the Golden Tooth, the gate to the Westerlands, when he was murdered by his own men. Whatever crimes Balon may have committed against the North, the cowards who perpetrated this crime have brought shame on us all. Let it be known that this vile act will not go unpunished! As long as I be King, the North will stay true to its traditions, resolving conflicts through the laws and customs. Woe to us, if we allow our cause to be tarnished by treachery! Only honor shall lead us to victory!"

A raven to Balon Greyjoy

"Lord Balon,

Words cannot express my sorrow for your son's fate. Although he was brought to Winterfell as a prisoner, I had grown to see Theon as a brother, and trusted him so much as to give him command of an essential front in my campaign. I promise you that, as soon as the battle is over, my commanders will conduct thorough investigations to find the traitors who perpetrated this crimes, and they will be hanged. I hope that you will not fault the North in its entirety for the acts of a few degenerate men.

I will personally see that your son's remains are transferred to Pyke as soon as possible.

-- Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, King in the North"

A raven to Rickard Karstark

"Lord Rickard,

In the name of Northern laws and justice, it is imperative that the assassins of Theon Greyjoy be brought to justice as soon as the military situation will make it possible. Within similar delays, I demand that Lord Theon's corpse be brought back to Pyke where it belongs. I have no doubt that your strength and bravery will soon bring us victory.

299 AL (1), or "Stags, Wolves and Lions": (Part I)

General View:

The War of the Five Kings has truly begun (Robb's earlier campaign in the Riverlands can very well be called a prelude to war), and all Kings have made their first moves. Suprisingly, most of them have proved cautious instead of willing to rush ahead and the end the war as quickly as possible, and this has resulted in advantages for some and damages for others. The stalemate in the Riverlands is still there, with Robb holed up in Riverrun while his men fight in the Golden Tooth, and Tywin seemingly marching back into the Crownlands. Stannis and Renly seemed poised to meet, and the Tyrells have seized the initiative by taking the Stony Sept and blocking Tywin from the Westerlands. Daenerys sails to Pentos, and as rumours grow about her, it seems she might very well become a contender for the throne very soon.

Quotes:

"Onwards to King's Landing, lads!"
(A Captain of the Redwyne Fleet after hearing of Horas and Hobber's escape)

"The Citadel has predicted that we will have at best one and a half year of warm weather in Westeros, afterwards a long winter will come."
(Archmaester Gormon of the Citadel)

"That Baelish imbecile can stay in Harrenhal for all he likes, he is not one of us."
(Comment attributed to Yohn Royce)

Info:

Tyrion Lannister:
-Prestige: 6/10 (After taking command of the situation he seems to be improving)
-Gold: 100.000 GD of his own money (Crown debts increasing, foreign trade blocked).
-Legitimacy: 6/10 (Cersei still challenges his authority, and without Baelish the Council is too small to operate in a decent way)

-While you were sucessful in getting rid of Janos Slynt and taking hold of several assets as Hand of the King, the city is threatened and people are beginning to panic thanks to the lack of food. Joffrey is becoming more unstable, and Pycelle and Cersei are openly stalling and opposing most of your moves in the Small Council (which now only has you, Varys and the first two). Bronn is doing his best, but crime keeps rising despite the Gold Cloaks killing many thieves. What's worse, Joffrey ordered most of King Robert's bastards dead, which means that the city is about to face a riot if urgent measures are not taken. On the other hand, Lord Rosby and several minor Lords have brought the 10,000 strong Crownlander army, but they need a commander. Varys suggests Ser Jacelyn Bywater, but he is one of Varys's men after all.

Stannis Baratheon:
-Prestige: 7/10 (Military reputation)
-Gold: 375.000 GD (Has to pay for the cost of mantaining the blockade)
-Legitimacy: 7/10 (No changes yet)

-Your navy now blocks Blackwater Bay, and it seems to may be able to parley with Renly after all, which has reduced the strategical disadvantages. Alas, Lord Sunglass has declared he can't follow you since you seem to be more interested in the Lord of Light, and the Lords who follow the Seven are worried that the people of Westeros won't accept a foreign religion.

Tywin Lannister:
-Prestige: 7/10 (Tywin has lost standing thanks to the attacks on his lands)
-Gold: 3.500.000 GD (The gold mines still work, but you have spent a lot in sellswords and other things)
-Legitimacy: 10/10 (Undisputed Lord of the Westerlands)

-It seems you will have to force an outcome as soon as possible. You can't return to the Westerlands with the Tyrell Army in the Stony Sept, and you can't help Ser Daven because Robb Stark is in the way, which reduces your options. The House of Lannister may yet win this war, but it's time for Tywin to repeat his victory against the Reynes and the Tarbecks.

Renly Baratheon:
-Prestige: 5/10 (No changes)
-Gold: 725.000 GD (No debts)
-Legitimacy: 5/10 (No changes)

-You have organized your forces and restablished your links to the Tyrells, but the talks of a parley with Stannis are still worrying many of your bannerman. Either way, it's advised for you to make a personal move to raise your prestige, as many are not happy with seeing you still in Storm's End.

Balon Greyjoy:
-Prestige: 6/10 (Back in the game after attacking the North)
-Gold: 280.000 GD (Some spoils from the North)
-Legitimacy: 8/10 (He is still unchallenged in his authority, but with Theon gone the sucession might be messy)

-Asha is now stationed in Bear Island and awaiting further orders, as the rest of your captains are. The North will defend itself, but so far the Ironborn have been sucessful in enacting their revenge for the rebelion and the deaths of Maron and Rodrik Greyjoy. Sadly, the death of Prince Theon has led to problems in the sucession of the Kingdoms, and many believe Victarion will not support Asha as Queen due to her being a woman.

299 AL (1), or "Stags, Wolves and Lions": (Part II)

Info:

Robb Stark:
-Prestige: 7/10 (Lowered after the recent attacks and Robb still in Riverrun)
-Gold: 580.000 GD (Further damage to the North and Riverlands)
-Legitimacy: 7/10 (Lowered after the Theon situation, the Riverlords are furious at now being allowed to save their people)

-Good day, your grace. Despite some sound moves that prevented major disasters, your position has not improved very much. The Riverlands are in fire and the Riverlords are desperate to save their lands from Vargo Hoat, and they can't understand why you are still in Riverrun intead of moving your army to fight. Lord Karstark continues to siege the Golden Tooth, but his army is inferior to Daven Lannister's troops in number, so he can't storm the place nor he can find an alternate road yet. Tywin Lannister seems to have left Harrenhal, but there are still enemy forces there. Galbart Glover reports the need for reinforcements in the North, and Ser Marlon Manderly has joined with the Riverfleet near the Vale.

Mace Tyrell:
-Prestige: 6/10 (Increased after a sucessful start to his campaign)
-Gold: 2.950.000 GD (The army costs a lot, but the economy is still doing great)
-Legitimacy: 10/10 (Unchallenged as the Lord of the Reach)

-Well done, Lord Tyrell! You have cut off Tywin from his lands and struck at many places, which shows a good level of strategical prowess on your behalf. Garlan is ready to storm Crakehall if you give the order, and your commanders press you to go and face Tywin or King's Landing once and for all. On the other hand, there's talk of Renly discussing terms with Stannis, which is a dangerous thing for you as it would mean that Margaery would stop being Queen. The Redwyne Fleet is available now as well, so you can use them to fight.

Doran Martell:
-Prestige: 7/10
-Gold: 800.000 GD (Region intact)
-Legitimacy: 8/10

-Not many changes here, many await for the arrival of Princess Myrcella since she will be key in the development of the political war behind the actual war. Oberyn is pressing you to end someone to King's Landing to take the Dornish seat in the Small Council, others believe the city and the imp will fall soon, so there's no need to rush yet.

Daenerys Targaryen:
-Prestige: 6/10
-Gold: 15.000 GD (has more funds thanks to Ser Barristan)
-Legitimacy: 7/10

-After a long journey the Dragons have continued to grow, and you have learned a lot of things about your heritage thanks to Ser Barristan. You have now arrived to the Slaver's Bay, and the ships are currently staying for a few days in Astapor. Ser Jorah has changed his mind and he has suggested that you try to buy some unsullied soldiers in order to come to Illyrio with an army, but Ser Barristan says that using slave soldiers would be a terrible move and something rather distasteful. Thus, you can try to by unsullied (if you do, I will need your offer and such) or sail to Volantis to continue your journey to Pentos.

Lysa Arryn:
-Prestige: 4/10
-Gold: 600.000 GD
-Legitimacy: 4/10

-While some of your recent moves have proved to be effective, the Lords of the Vale are distrusting you more and more after your refusal to make a move and your request to have guests who could easily turn into hostages. What's worse, Lord Baelish's impending arrival is not approved by the Vale Lords, who still hope to marry you and consider Littlefinger a poor choice for a suitor (specially with the Lannisters being in trouble now).

A raven to Robb Stark

Lord Stark,

We thank you for your sorrow, and your attempts to seek justice for the death of my son - your trust in him was evident and we are glad to hear that an investigation will be conducted, and that Theon's remains will be swiftly transferred to Pyke. There shall be no future attacks on Northern settlements by the Ironborn in the immediate future.

-Balon Greyjoy, Ninth of His Name Since the Grey King, King of the Iron Islands, King of Salt and Rock, Son of the Sea Wind, and Lord Reaper of Pyke.

A raven to Tyrion Lannister

Lord Tyrion,

I am still awaiting a response to my offer for a prisoners exchange. It seems to me that giving away three young Lannister men in exchange for two innocent girls may be considered a generous offer, especially since yours and your father's position in this war seem far from triumphant in these days. Being the reasonable man I have known you as, I have no doubt you will seize this opportunity.

Dorne - The first part of the year 299 after Aegon's Landing:

- The Dornish navy must be enlarged. Instruct to build ten more ships.
- Send trade delegations to the Summer Isles and the Free Cities. Convince them to intesifiy trading connections with Dorne, as the war plaguing the rest of Westeros has and will not arrive in Dorne. Sunspear and the Shadow Town must be made one of the most important trading ports in Westeros!
- Insensify trade with Dornish goods to the Free Cities and the Summer Isles - more money must be brought to the Dornish tresaury.

OOC: I may be mistaken, but IIRC, Lumine never said you have Martyn Lannister as a hostage.  You might be thinking of the show where it is Willem and Martyn Lannister instead of Willem Lannister and Tion (?) Frey.

OCC: Yes, my reference was the show and I probably have misread Lumine's description... Shame. Sad Do I have Alton at least (the guy Jaime murdered in his attempt to escape, in the show)?

OOC: I'd think you do not. Cleos Frey, who is son of a Frey and a Lannister, was replaced by him in the show. In the books he doesn't exist.

OOC: You do still have Willem Lannister, just not Martyn - Martyn (I think) is somewhere in the Westerlands, maybe with Daven's army.

OOC: So yeah, Willem and a Frey couldn't possibly be enough for even one Stark, let alone both.

OOC: I have to say that I really enjoy your Tywin impersonation, Mr. X. You do a great job at conveying the character's spirit and attitude. Wink
