I still contend he's the best president in American History, slightly above Abe Lincoln.

Jesus Christ, have people really sunk this low?

Just my personal opinion, which by the way is just as valid as those of Reagan-haters.

This is all true but you, or rather the cartoonist, forgot his ignoring of HIV for years as thousands of Americans wasted away. Also the Beirut bombings in which hundreds of marines were killed. And the Farm Crisis. And the out of control crime, crack cocaine abuse, and teenage pregnancy that defined the 1980s. Although a decent sized minority of people would continue to prosper until Bush Jr's presidency, most Americans never saw their economic outlook improve again once this man became President.

There's a lot of disrespect in this thread. He was a good president.

Bushie should be the on defending him since Bushie claimed Reagan > Lincoln.

I remember you telling me to "grow up" when I said I didn't respect Hugo Chavez shortly after his death.

And Hugo Chavez is a far worse person than Reagan.

I really don't understand your point. You were cheering Chavez' death as it was announced and that was pretty low. How is that comparable to me stating I don't respect a certain historical figure a decade after he died?

The end of stagflation had literally nothing to do with Reagan.

Well, he did reappoint Volcker as Fed Chairman (although most of the heavy-lifting by Volcker had already been done), and his ending of 70's price controls on oil did help reduce prices in that sense too. So, he had a partial role in it, even if he wasn't the main actor.

These are arguably the best things Reagan did.

Reagan had a mixed legacy, but it was a necessary one.

People are calling disrespect in this thread, but he died ten years ago, I think people who truly hated his legacy are validated to vent on it. I am, obviously, not one of those people.

Sure Lincoln literally ended slavery and prevented this country from splitting in two, but Reagan cut taxes and stuck it to the HIV-infected f****ts. Of course he's the best president.

People, he has an average ranking of 17 in presidential rankings, and that's only because Obama has only been ranked twice in high spots, sinse People who do presidential rankings have a liberal bias.

Burn, Ronnie, burn!

May the victims of Honduran death squads, the victims of Saddam Hussein's brutal regime and those killed in the anarchy after Hussein's regime's collapse, those killed with the weapons you sold to the Iranian theocrats, and the thousands who wasted away as you did nothing to counter HIV haunt you for every day of your eternal damnation!

No it's not as valid, because it's wrong. Only correct positions are valid.

Not big on disrespecting the dead in death threads, but it is 10 years later so those complaining about the disrespect are really just complaining that someone dare say something bad about King Reagan the Great.

On a personal level, may his family be at peace. On a public level, I disagreed with most of what he did and we will never forget his tepid response to apartheid government. In terms of modern politics, it is time for the GOP to calm down and stop using him as an American hero, if for no other reason than that they're creating a narrative about his Presidency that is inaccurate.

It's unfortunate that hell is a fiction, if only because this mass murderer deserves it more than anyone whose held that office in recent years (aside from George W. and Nixon, of course)

I love all the 15 year old red California avatars giving their "commentary." At least TNF was being heartfelt and not trying to be "edgy."
