The man does not hold back, either in his criticism of Clinton nor of Obama:

There are no viable 2016 GOP candidates that I would vote for over Schweitzer.

Schweitzer might be one of Hillary's strongest challengers to getting the nomination, but I believe that he would really just be another "outsider" who ends up supporting most of the current Democratic party platform.

Brian Schweitzer must be a dullard if he thinks that he can successfully take on Hillary Clinton by bashing the Affordable Care Act.

Really? I know plenty of folks who would like to see it challenged from the left.

I hope Hillary & the DNC destroy this charlatan.
The question is this:
1. If he is the nominee, will traditional Democratic base voters turn out for him in the polls?
2. If he loses the nomination to Hillary, will he be her running mate or will Clinton look to loyalty (Bayh?)

Probably, he could even do a little better with certain sects. Of course, the idea of him playing well with swing voters is fantasy, the man's pompous personality would be a major turnoff. Also fantasy is the 'special appeal' he has, he talks like your typical politician. He pathetically evaded answering for his comments on polygamy in Romney's family in a CNN interview. He won't work in a year like 2016.

Agreed. If he actually gave a damn about liberalism and not himself he would be kicking Daines' a** in Montana right now.

Yeah, he really left the Dems hanging there. And he wouldn't even endorse Walsh, since his Republican Lt. Governor was challenging him in the primary.

The one thing Schweitzer will have going for him is that the media will give him tons of unwarranted positive publicity due to their hunger for a "horse race". But I doubt it will be enough, he will likely be crushed under Hillary's high heel. But I'm sure he'll be able to sell a lot of books in the process.

It's probably going to end up in the print edition of Time next week, so there's always the library, but that's probably one of the least helpful pieces of advice I've ever given out Cheesy

I don't know what it is about Schweitzer, but his style of positioning I just find very blatant, tactless, and overall makes him extremely unlikeable.

Yeah, if he were running for Senate there's a damn good chance that he could have been the seat that keeps control of the chamber for Democrats, which does a hell of a lot more for liberalism than running some third rate bid for president against an opponent he has absolutely no chance of beating. All Hillary would need to do in a primary if he even came within 20 points of her would be to run ads on his gun statements and he would be dead in the water with most liberal activists.

I don't know what it is about Schweitzer, but his style of positioning I just find very blatant, tactless, and overall makes him extremely unlikeable.

Absolutely this.

I agree with him. While I do have faith in Hillary, the Democratic Party needs to return to its populist roots.

If the Democratic party were to go that route, I'd sure like to see Warren lead the way rather than some self serving prick like Schweitzer.

I believe Schweitzer has calculated that he has absolutely no chance with the Democratic Establishment and is basically telling them f**k you.  That may play well with some of the anti-Hillary elements in our party, but those folks are very far from a majority of Democratic voters.  Perhaps he is trying to consolidate them early before someone else can?

Schweitzer's tactics are starting to resemble the sledgehammer approach John Edwards took toward Hillary in 2008.  And it probably contributed to her not getting the nomination.  But Edwards didn't get it either and Clinton is a much stronger candidate now than she was in 2008.
