Republican William A. Brenner, a popular, respected attorney and politician in Sullivan County, New York, has declared his intent today to run against Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2006 New York Senatorial Election.

The announcement, made in the form of a letter to various New York State Republican and Conservative Committee Chairmen, makes Brenner the first to officially announce his candidacy against the incumbent democratic Senator from New York.

"It was not my intention to be first," said Brenner from his Grahamsville, NY, law office. "It is my intention to be the last, official Republican candidate in '06, campaigning against Hillary Clinton on behalf of the core beliefs and true values of all New Yorkers."

Brenner, 64, is an attorney with 40 years experience in political, family court, tax and criminal law. In addition to his thriving law practice, he is best known in New York as President of Brenner Income Tax Centers, Inc., with many offices throughout Sullivan, Ulster and Orange Counties.

Brenner was most recently the 2004 Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in New York's 22nd Congressional district, an election he lost to five-time incumbent democrat Maurice Hinchey. His just-announced U.S. Senate campaign against Hillary Clinton will be financed via personal funds until he establishes a base of support among New York State Republican and Conservative Committee Chairmen.

According to Richard Pergolizzi, Communications Director for the 'Brenner for U.S. Senate' campaign, "Bill Brenner is a charismatic, smart and experienced politician. But more important, he's a model of courage and unique vision, which is exactly what New York needs right now. Are you sick to death of Hillary? Well, Bill Brenner is the anti-Hillary. He's an authentic, pro-active, caring human being."

Brenner has never hidden his dislike for incumbent Senator Clinton, whom he deems "an opportunistic carpetbagger with her sights set on the White House."

Three-Legged-Mule (R) will still win 35% of the vote, no matter what.

This sounds like the guy who ran against Schumer.

He said "I'm not a sacrificial lamb"

I don't remember anything else about him. Smiley

Well, he's right about her being an opportunistic carpetbagger, but he doesn't stand a snowbal's chance in hell of beating her.

Clinton's approval is 69, her disapproval is down around 20

I didn't think it was possible, but Clinton could win re-election by a larger amount than Schumer did

Three-Legged Mule (R) can still win!!!!

I used to think Pataki had a shot against Hillary (and would have advised Rudy to run for Governor against Spitzer and Pataki to run against Hillary)...but that's not the case anymore.

He'd put it within 15 points, though.

He was losing in the polls by MORE THAN THIRTY tp Hillary.  He would absolutley get demolished.  It wasn't just one poll either, it was like 3.  I know you don't like her, but you can't deny that Hillary is very popular right now & Pataki is about as popular as a kidney stone right now

I'm also saying that polls more than a year out of the election always overestimate the strength of the incumbent.

Not to say that Pataki has any shot of winning, of course.

The only interesting thing to watch in NY is control of the State Senate.

Granted. but  that doesn't exactly explain Pataki's horrific showing in a Gov matchup.  Also how far out from an election doesn't really impact a candidate's approval ratings

Are you calling victories unintersting? Smiley

We might pull it off in '06.  The cards are stacked against us, but we may well do it.

First off, to cal Bill Brenner a respectable attorney is laughable. Brenner should be in a mental hospital and the only reason he exists is because he lives off of his mother's money. Ask anybody in Sullivan county about Bill Brenner and they will immediately drop to the ground laughing hysterically. He has been booted as an atty by the bar several times. His so called tax business caters to the very poor and they are even going elsewhere. I am looking forward to attending his funeral and taking a piss on his grave as the man has done nothing but cause many people grief due to his stupidity. Clearly his mother paid somebody to take the bar exam for him so "dollar bill" could at least have some standing in society. All the artsy and judges in Sullivan county think he is a complete moron.

A candidate for office from four years ago. That's dedication.

I thought the post was four years old & Xahar had bumped it. That makes it 10x more classic than I thought it was in the first place.

Welcome exposingbillbrenner! I'm sure you'll be a longtime productive contributor to the forum with numerous pithy insights on unknown Sullivan County NY pols.
