Poll

I'm not familiar with this pollster, but I assume it's junk. But since I've been complaining for weeks about the lack of polling in the race, I can't very well also complain when we finally get one...

If I'm wrong and it's relatively accurate, then huge LOL @ the Mississippi GOP. Todd Akin squared may not be dead yet.

Cochran 56-31 on favorability, compared to McDaniel's 49-19.

ETA: This poll was conducted before nursinghomegate broke this weekend.

Harry, is there a runoff in MS if somebody doesn't clear 50%?

In the primaries, yes, but I can't imagine that being an issue.

In the general election, no.

Some McDaniel supporter was arrested for breaking into the nursing home where Cochran's wife has been living in a vegetative state for about a decade, presumably in an effort to investigate and thereby stir up the rumors that Cochran might be having an affair with a long-time aide.  The McDaniel camp are claiming they have no idea who he is, and yet they appeared to know more details about the arrest before anything had even been publicly released.

This was also done for a pro-McDaniel PAC.

The last scandal won't change a lot of things, except if Mcdaniel is clearly indicted, and that's not actually the case.

Another poll. Probably even less reliable than this one, but still, polling.

Reputable organizations don't poll Mississippi because of how inaccurate polling has been in the Magnolia State traditionally.

That can't happen since there's only McDaniel and Cochran in the race.

There's a minor candidate, Tom Carey, who could force a runoff in an extremely close election.

Del Tachi, I'm curious.  Would Cochran airing McDaniel's ridiculous gaffes (not the Katrina one, but the "hip hop blacks", "reparations", mamacita, white nationalism, Spanish where the bathroom is, bad stuff about women, etc.  ) help or hurt Cochran in the MS primary?  Are the GOP primary voters in MS on average in agreement with McDaniel's statements?  Given that this is 2014, I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

The kind of folks who liked McDaniels' comments were already going to vote for him regardless of how the campaign progressed.  The comments have hurt McDaniel, to be clear, but there not as damning as they would be in other states.  If anything, comments like that from McDaniel will drive-up Cochran turnout in the more "cosmopolitan" parts of the state.

Another poll. Probably even less reliable than this one, but still, polling.

I don't really know what to make of that, but I guess we can temporarily downgrade MS from Likely Cochran to Lean Cochran until we get more information. PPP, please poll Mississippi!

Likely rep was your prediction, not mine Tongue.

I still think this is a toss up.
