Nice town. Why is it that NC is graced with so many charming towns I wonder?  And I notice that Hudson is right next door to boot. Smiley

The town below is actually a county seat, with the county courthouse in view (and where my brother registered to vote in fact).

Probably not, but hard to tell from the picture. Reminds me a bit about the Azores, which would be good. Is it still in Japan?

Yes, but a part of Japan that it's weirdly hard to find good pictures of online, even searching in Japanese.

Is that Inyo County? If so, it wouldn't be at the top of my list of places to live in California. Even though it's probably too rural for my taste, I'll lean yes. That's some really great scenery.

Way too rural for me to live there, but wouldn't mind visiting.

Indeed.  Pretty near my old stomping grounds.

Looks much too cold for my tastes, especially with the constant wind that sea probably brings. Also, I'd need to see what the houses look like.

Most excellent. It is Independence, the county seat of Inyo. My younger brother lives at the other end of the county in Rovana, a former tungsten mining company town, and still all owned by one entity which rents the immediately post WWII vintage cracker box houses on grid streets, as if they were levitated out from the San Fernando Valley on a magic carpet and plopped down in what is admittedly a magnificent setting, right up against the Sierra Nevadas,  that formerly housed the miners (which coincidentally at one time, when controlled by someone else, was a client of our law firm, but I digress).

It's a nice house, but what makes me want to live there is the scenery.
