A lot of politicians seem to think reddit as a strong liberal community that would be favorable to all the ideals of the Democratic Party but I think it's more  libertarian than liberal most of the users are males between 18-29 so the ideal group that appeals to libertarianism. Some staffer probably told him this was a way to reach out to young liberal millennials.

It could be a symptom of bigger problems (a lack of adequate preparation) but otherwise it's not a big deal. Few are going to be aware of the AMA, and fewer still are going to care that he answered it badly. It would be much worse if he was praised for his honesty, and gave controversial answers that would hurt him with a significant segment of the voters.

That's not an unfair viewpoint. If other states like Texas are going to gerrymander and squeeze out hispanic and black voters to optimize GOP chances, Maryland should get to optimize the chances for Democrats if that is their goal. However one can still believe that but still support a federal non-partisan council to cover the redistricting for all 50 states.
