I can't find too many retail jobs.  I keep looking for them, just as I am for other jobs, just can't find too many.  If someone wants to do a quick check for themselves, be my guest.

Ugh, you're unbelievable.

http://m.simon.com/directory.aspx

Take a bunch of résumés with you, and a pen so you can fill out the applications they'll hand you, and a notebook to write down the web addresses for stores that only do online applications.  Don't you dare call each store from home; that impresses nobody.

I've heard that it's better to apply on line first, then go to the store, tell them you applied online and ask how far along they are in filling the position. Best case scenario, he gets an interview on the spot and they appreciate the initiative.

But Bushie seems bizarrely uncomfortable with technology in general for someone with computer-related college degrees and certificates; the reliance on doing everything via the phone and First Class Mail rather than online, the inability to fathom that he might be able to just take 2 minutes to email MetroTech about his graduation status while doing something else (multitasking!)...

Thank you for listening and sending the email, Bushie. I think that was a good move.

Hopefully this job you're currently waiting on is ends up being the one. If not, Bushie, have you considered something like data entry? It's not customer service related, and it's not retail, and you don't really need to be on your feet.

I just scored a second interview with the drafting job I interviewed for this morning.  They called me at 16:50 this evening, right as I was about to close up shop for the day.  The interview is this Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 15:00!!!

Does anybody else find Bushie's use of twenty-four-hour time as strange and grating as I do?

I just sent the school and my instructor an e-mail asking the status of the certificate. I will now wait for a response.

I'm already started on my job search for today and have one application already in this morning.

What kind of jobs are you putting in applications for?  Are you looking at those websites that Inks and Joe Republic pointed out, to find retail jobs?

Those are included, but I just put in for a computer job - not a CAD(D) job, but an E-Commerce/Computer Science job that I went to college for.  Most of the time, it is customer service, clerical, technical support, and CAD(D).  I do look at the retail job side of craigslist, too.

Again, not to harp on the retail thing, but it still seems like the easiest option to explore, given that you just said yesterday that at this point you'd settle for anything.  Can't you just go to a mall, and ask a bunch of stores if they're hiring?  Don't those kinds of jobs have high turnover, such that there's likely to be an opening *somewhere* at a given point in time?  Or is the job market really that tight in Tulsa?

Honestly, at this point I think his best bet would to be a shotgun approach to online applications.  It allows him to fill out the most applications in the least amount of time.  That's probably his best bet to maximize interviews.

It's a vestige of the Kenyan escapade.

I'm pretty excited about the interview.   There is no website from what I can find, so I can't really investigate the company, but this place is only 9 miles from me.

It's very odd, and it requires that I pause for a moment and mentally recalculate, so that I can process. And yet, it is more sensible than the AM/PM thing. It's similar to when somebody posts a temperature in Celcius. Except that it's an American who is just being a odd duck.

Yeah, I'd say it's mainly that the fact that it's Bushie doing it makes it come across as a really obvious and grotesque affectation, rather than what it is that he's doing itself being annoying.

Doubt it.  If anyone wants to help me find a website, PM me for the name of the company.

Probably not the best idea to post that information publicly on this forum, given Mondale's shenanigans.

I think they're just a new company.  I saw a website that was under construction.

If I were you... every time someone just interviews you without questions or reservations, Google "*insert company name* and scam" just to be sure... ad through craigslist, no web presence of any kind...

I did just that, and there were no results that came up.

I scored another job interview late this afternoon.  It is a help desk position here in Tulsa, a 6-month contract-to-hire.  I have the first interview on that this coming Monday, June 30, 2014 at 13:00.

This makes 3 hot leads that are currently active.  One generic call center, one help desk, and one entry-level drafting.

Bushie ought to consider applying for an Oklahoma's execution team. Apparently, no skills nor training are required.
