This is going to be the White House Thread.

Any annoucements that Alcon or I need to make go in here.

Also, this thread will be like a never-ending press conference.  Anyone can ask questions at any time.

Finally, I ask that this thread be stickied.

The recent earthquake has devastated Indionesia.  I ask the Senate to act quickly in providing aid the people.  Also, I would like to ask Senator Gabu to suspend the rules and move any relief bill to the front of the line.  I would also suggest the Senate step up efforts to send relief for the tsunami that currently has 270,000 people missing.  I would suggest the aid package include about $800 million.

I recommend the Senate lower that relief package to $150 million + private donations by US citizens.

I recommend we lower it to 25 million plus the logistical costs.

Do you feel it sends a dangerous precedent to suspend the rules in certain situations? Not that there is anything wrong with the proposed aid package being adapted quickly, but shouldn't the Senate adapt formal procedures for what bills can be moved up?

I have to agree with Mr. Akno here. This sets a horrible precedent for Presidential meddling in the legislative branch. While I believe that it is Atlasia's duty to send aid to those effected by this most recent earthquake I do not believe that the President should have the right to force the Senate to suspend the rules of this legislative body. Aid can also come from the President's office, IIRC, and I would support any Presidential mission to the area to begin with the relief efforts.

Okay, when you get back:

Could you describe Atlasia's foreign policy in a paragraph?

Given the confusion surrounding February's federal election, do you think it would be necessary for the UN to send in observers?

Shouldn't this be the Oval Office?  Not the "Office of the White House"

Maybe they managed to fit the entire White House in an office. Smiley

My fellow Atlasians,

I first must apoligize to my fellow Atlasians.  I have been an inactive President.  With school, Model UN, and other activities, I have not had time to fulfill my responsibilities as President.  The nation of Atlasia has suffered because of this.  In this time of a united, hardworking Senate, I stand as one who has been absent.  Again, I apoligize to the people of Atlasia for this, and I feel I must resign.  Effective immediately, I resign my post as President of Atlasia, with the hope this nation will not be too hard on me.  I am sure Alcon will preside over Atlasia as as more fit President than myself.  I plan to check in every once in a while and to return in the summer when I have more time.  Furthermore, I do not believe I am fit to be President.  I would much rather create legislation than sign it, so I plan to run for Senate in the future.  Thank you and sorry.

Speaking for the last time as President,

Signed,

True Democrat
